Obituary for Roy Lee Honeycutt

Roy Lee HoneycuttRoy Lee Honeycutt, age 79 of Greenbrier, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Elder Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Luton’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 until 8 PM and Saturday from 1 PM until the hour of service.

Mr. Honeycutt was born October 13, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Claude and Mary Jane Williams Honeycutt. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles. He was a regular supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lassiter Honeycutt.

floral squareHe is survived by his sons, Kenneth Roy Honeycutt of Greenbrier and Richard Lawrence Honeycutt of Dickson; daughter, Victoria Lea Rhodes of Mascoutah, IL; brothers, Jewel Thomas Honeycutt of White House and Ronnie Dale Honeycutt of Nashville; sister, Effie Jane Reaves of Dickson; grandchildren, Brian Honeycutt, Michelle Fowler, Kristina Hoskins, David Rhodes, Eric Rhodes, and Chris Honeycutt; and 4 great grandchildren.

The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Shawn Patrick MartinShawn Patrick Martin, age 29 of Ridgetop, TN died Sunday July 22, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday July 28, 2018 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Jack Martin officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 9 on Tuesday July 31st in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-8 pm and again on Saturday from 9 am until 12:45 pm.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Annie Crumpler Martin and Michael Martin, brother, Austin Martin, all of Ridgetop; grandfather, Thomas Crumpler of Adairville; his dog, General and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Obituary for Terry Scott Dorris

Terry Scott DorrisTerry Scott Dorris, age 63 of Springfield, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Hubbard officiating. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery with full military honors and Madison Burnette, Ed Lemley, David Joyce, Thad Dorris, Bobby Little, Danny Johnson, Mike Wilhoit, Haidy Grisby, Elizabeth Leonard, and Lee Dotson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were all the men and women that Terry served with in the military and police departments. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 8 pm AND Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of service.

Mr. Dorris was born January 17, 1955 in Robertson County to Betty Jean Draughon Dorris and the late Virgil Willis. He was retired from the Springfield Police Department where he was a canine officer. He also served in the United States Air Force for 6 years and then over 14 years in the National Guard. He was an avid wood carver and reader. He was an artist and loved riding his motorcycle. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Dorris and a brother, Jackie Dorris.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Dorris of Springfield; son, Travis Dale Dorris and wife Sharan of Ridgetop; mother, Betty Jean Draughon Dorris of Springfield; brothers, David Dorris and wife Shannon of Cedar Hill, Paul Dorris and wife Brenda of Watertown, and Mike Dorris and wife LeAnne of Springfield; grandchildren, floral squareDesiree Dorris, Hunter Dorris, Eric Fults, Jr., Vivian Dorris, Cheyanne Pitts, Sierra Pitts, and Dakota Pitts; great grandchild, Ezra Kaulfurst; special friend, Bobby Little; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike Ray SatterfieldAge 34 of Cross Plains passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home. He was born August 29, 1983 in Florida. He worked as a dispatcher/truck driver for Ahern Rentals and was a member of Cross Plains United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved NASCAR, riding dirt bikes and was a great cook, especially cooking on the grill.

He is survived by his wife, Kala Satterfield; daughters, Olivia Faith Hunn and Addison Grace Hunn; grandmother, Virginia Saterfield, Mt. Pleasant, TN; Uncle he loved like a father, Dwight Dotson, Mt. Pleasant, TN; brother-in-laws, Neal Lovelace and Jarrett Somerville; sister-in-law, Sinisha Somerville; 3 nieces; 1 nephews, all of Cross floral squarePlains, TN, mother, Sheri Miller of Mt. Bobby Joe HarrisAge 80 formerly of Mayfield, KY passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at White House Health Care & Rehab. He was born to Robert Simpson & Willie Pauline Sanderson Harris on August 2, 1937 in Graves County, KY.

He worked as a truck driver for Davis Transport before his retirement and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeremy Wooten; brother, Charles Harris; sisters, Anna Harris and Dorothy Harper. Loy Glenn WardLoy Glenn Ward, age 74, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at NorthCrest Medical Center. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1:30pm in Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Michael Proctor and Reverend Dylan Proctor officiating. Burial will follow with Dylan Proctor, Derek Proctor, Jeff Gragg, Jay Sloan, Randy Hughes and Garin Hooper serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Thursday from 11am until 1pm.

Mr. Ward was born November 16, 1943 in Barren Plains to the late James Elmore “Pat” and Sally Morris Ward. He was a truck driver and member of the Joelton Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his parents Mr. Ward is preceded in death by his sisters, Anita Ward, Peggy Ward and Estelle Hughes.

She is survived by a brother, Carlos (Norma) Ford; sister, Bonnie Harris; two nieces, Hailey and Paige Harris; and three nephews, Austin, Evan, and Murray Harris.

William Paul NationAge 92 of Cottontown, TN went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the residence of Alive Hospice. He was born June 5, 1926 in Illinois to Gus and Mae Garrett Nation. He was self-employed in the Construction Industry before his retirement and was a faithful member of New Life Fellowship. He never missed a church service unless he was very ill and loved being in the house of the Lord. He enjoyed most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores Sperry Nation; 7 sisters; 1 brother. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Harvey) Massie, Cottontown, TN and Beverly (Jack) Bevins, Texarcana, TX; sons, Dave (Donna) Clifford, White House, TN, Rick (Judy) Clifford, Cottontown, TN and Tim (Suzi) Clifford, Nashville, TN; brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Nation, Victoria, Texas; sister, Nadine Minor, Westmoreland, TN; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
