Obituary for Helen Hinkle

Helen HinkleHelen Louise Hinkle, 80, of Greenbrier, died Saturday October 14, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday October 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. James Shoulders and Bro. Frank Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in White House with Brandon Hinkle, Dustin Hinkle, David Halpin, TJ Hinkle, Kenneth Cooper, and Josh Brewington serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Hinkle and Hunter Hinkle. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hinkle was born May 1, 1937 in Sumner County to the late James Finnis and Vertie Brown Birdwell. She was a retired sales clerk with Springfield Wal-Mart and was a former member of the Robertson County Saddle Club. Mrs. Hinkle was a member of Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George Lacy Hinkle, her daughter: Rita Lynette Hinkle, and her siblings: Gerald Dean Birdwell, Fred B. Birdwell, and Shirley Jeanette Rawls.

She was a retired Director of Environmental Services at North Crest Medical Center, and was a member of Woodland Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Heatherly enjoyed yard work, animals, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Heatherly. Mrs. Heatherly is survived by her son: Lewis Teasley of Springfield, and by her daughter and son-in-law: Sheila and Jim Rider of Murfreesboro, and by several nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Joe Angel

Joe AngelJoe Angel, 74, of Adairville, KY, died Wednesday October 11, 2017 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Saturday October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Dean Funeral Chapel in Adairville, KY with Bro. Allen Woodard officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery with Levi Mathews, Landen Mathews, Greg Mathews, Bryan Dorris, Bryan Shoulders, and Sherman Shoulders serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Lewis Hudson. The family received friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Angel was born June 9, 1943 in Logan County, KY to the late Hal Winston and Alice Josephine Tyler Angel. He was a retired truck driver from S&F Pickup and Delivery. Mr. Angel also farmed and sold cars. He was a member of Adairville Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during Vietnam. Mr. Angel enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with friends, and had a great love for horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy Angel, and his brother: Jim Angel.

Obituary for Carolyn Kirby

Carolyn KirbyMary Carolyn Williams Kirby, 74, of Richmond, TX, and formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday October 10, 2017 in Sugarland, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday October 29th at 3:00 in the sanctuary of Springfield First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the sanctuary of the church.

Mrs. Kirby was born May 6, 1943 in Robertson County to the late J.B. and Margaret Tolleson Williams. She began her teaching career in Jacksonville, FL, where she met and married Jim Kirby. They moved to Springfield in 1970, and she began her teaching career at Springfield High School in 1975 as the Home Economics teacher. She was an active longtime member of the Robertson County Players, where she served as a board member, stage manager, director of children’s plays, and was an actress in both adult and children’s plays. She was a member of the Music Club, past president of the 20TH Century Club, past chairperson of the annual Christmas Sampler, and a past president of the Red Hat Ladies Society. While living in Springfield, she was an active member of Springfield First United Methodist Church, the church she was raised in. She served as a nursery teacher, was a circle member, served on various committees, and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Hand Bell Choir. In 2005, she and her husband Jim moved to Texas, and she became a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Richmond. She served as director of Children’s Hand Bells, president of the Hope Circle, co-chairperson for the Children’s Ministry, was a member of a women’s weekly Bible study, and was a member of the adult choir. Mrs. Kirby was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Texas, where she served as a past president and was a former Sweetheart of the Year. Mrs. Kirby was known for the wonderful bread, candy, pies, cookies, and gingerbread houses that she made for the bake sales.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Lloyd Kirby. Mrs. Kirby is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: James Travis and Corrine Kirby, granddaughter: Olivia Grace Kirby all of Richmond, TX, brother and sister-in-law: Don E. and Tam Williams of Nashville, sister: Nancy Williams Lewis of Springfield, nephews: Brian Williams, John Meredith Lewis and wife Brenda all of Nashville, nieces: Beth Williams Newman and husband John of College Station, TN, Anna Williams Rapp and husband Mike of Atlanta, GA

floral squareMrs. Kirby loved children, especially her students and always wanted to be instrumental in their lives. A post on her facebook page gives a great summation of her teaching career, “You taught us, encouraged us, lectured us, and most importantly believed in us!” Carolyn Kirby was one of those rare talented and thoughtful people that many, many people loved.

Paul Lavel White, age 73, of Chapmansboro, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10am in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brother Dennis Wallace officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 8:30-9:30am.

Mr. White was born January 7, 1944 in Havana, AR to the late L.O. and Helen Elmore White. He worked installing sprinkler systems and was a member of the Portland Road Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents Mr. White is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Lassiter White. Wayne Lowell BurgerWayne Lowell Burger, age 85 of Hendersonville (formerly of Cottontown), passed away at home on October 14, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1932 in Kewanee, IL, to Hyla and Lloyd Burger, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burger; a brother, Lloyd Burger, Sr.; and a sister, Vivian Willaby. He is survived by his son, Mike (Patty) Burger; daughters, Cheryl (Rick) Todd, and Cheri Stowe; grandchildren, Tim Todd, Jeremy Burger, Bret Todd, Tierra Kondus, and Kelly Stowe; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 18, from 5:00pm until his Celebration of Life service at 7:00pm from the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville, with Robert Massie officiating. Interment Service will be at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday at 11:00am. Mr. Dean was born October 27, 1934 in Springfield to the late Vernon and Oramae Osborne Dean. He worked on heavy equipment for TVA and was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ. Mr. Dean was also a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents Mr. Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Rawls Dean, his brother, Robert Dean and his sister, Edna Thompson.

Phillip was born in Fayetteville, TN on March 17, 1945 to the late Ross and Annie Mae Shelton Land.

She was a 50 year Order of Eastern Star Chapter #222 member and a charter member of the White House Kiwanis Club. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, GL Hulsey; brother, Donnie Callis; sister, Lucille Middlebrooks.

She is survived by nephew, Craig (Wynne) Callis, Hendersonville, TN; niece, Jennifer (Jeff) Bedwell, White House, TN; several great nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted father, a loving son, brother and uncle. Les was big-hearted – he was a loyal friend to all who knew him. He loved sports and the outdoors, and was an avid UT Fan.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Lamberth, Sr.; and his grandparents Paulette and Jimmy Young. He is survived by his daughters, Kiley Marie Lamberth and Saylor Elizabeth Lamberth; his mother, Connie Marie Young; his brothers, Landen Lamberth, Gary Lamberth, and Nazreth Czeskleba; and a sister, Kristen Lamberth and grandparents, Nell and Les Lamberth.
