Obituary for Wilburn West

Wilburn WestWilburn Donald West, 85, of Springfield, died Monday October 23, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 26th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. West was born March 22, 1932 in Robertson County to the late Douglas and Leo Cole West. He was a retired equipment operator for Five Star Paving and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Mr. West was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 45 in Greenbrier, and he enjoyed watching airplanes and helicopters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Louise Morris West, his step-son: Jewel Wayne Knight, and by his siblings: Carl, Dick, James, Bob, and Buzz West, Dorothy Moorefield, Margaret Blackwell, and Overa Cunningham.

Knight and wife Dian of Shelbyville, daughters: Kim Redfearin and Karen West both of Springfield, brothers: Tommy West of Hermitage and Larry West of Ashland City, sister: Catherine Lee of White House, niece and care giver: Carla Stone of Springfield, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren

Obituary for William Martin

William MartinWilliam Lindsey Martin, 71, of Springfield, died Sunday October 22, 2017 at North Crest Medical Center. Mr. Martin remains were cremated, and private family services will be held. He was born December 16, 1945 in Davidson County. Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served floral squareduring Vietnam. He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife: Janet Jones Martin, step-sons: Robert Bradley of Sparta, Michael Stark of Nashville, and Rob Stark of Greenbrier, and by his grandchildren: Brooklyn Bradley, Claire, Cooper, and Caleb Stark.

Bobby Wayne ScottBobby Wayne Scott, age 61 of Cedar Hill, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Cedar Hill. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Living Word Church in Adairville, KY with Rev. Johnnie Baldwin officiating.

Mr. Scott was born January 4, 1956 in Robertson County to the late Robert Daniel and Geraldine Wilson Scott. He was a member of Living Word Church and was a framer. He was a veteran of the United States Marines.

Mr. Miears was born October 18, 1939 to the late Olar and Ella Macky Miears. He was a self-employed salesman of knives, flags and other goods.

In addition to his parents Mr. Miears is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Howard Miears, daughters, Suzie Latiner and Debbie Savage, and his sister, Wanda Cottrell.

Obituary for John Larry Tate

John Larry TateAge 74 of Springfield passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly, TN. He was born March 15, 1943 in Mitchellville, KY to James Robert and Idella Baird Tate.

He worked as an assembly worker for Peterbilt until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was an avid hunter. He was also a member of the UAW Union.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice Richardson Tate, Springfield, TN; son, Kevin Lee (Cathy) Tate, Greenbrier, TN; daughters, Cynthia Ann (Jeff) Crosslin, Hillsboro, Tn and Beverly (Arthur) Moore, White House, TN; brother, Phillip Tate floral squareand sister, Joan Cline, both of Bucyrus, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Arley Crawford; son, Steven (Tammy) Crawford; daughter, Audrea (Eric) Neumair; sister-in-laws, Tillie Alley and Shirley Crawford; 4 grandchildren, Curtis Crawford, Brittany Crawford, Erika Patt and Hunter Newmair; 1 great-grandchild, Brinley Hudgens.

Helen Louise HunterHelen Louise Hunter, age 98, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at The Waters of Robertson. Funeral service was held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother David Royalty officiating. Burial followed at the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Kenny Betts, JR, Randy Bugg, Kenny Hand, Tommy Hunter, JR, Perry Kirby and Craig Maes serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4pm-8pm and again on Monday, 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.

Mrs. Hunter was born May 17, 1919 in Adams to the late Boss and Annie Ruffin Kirby. She worked as a Child Care provider and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Hunter is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hunter; son, J.W. “Skippy” Hunter; brothers, Emeul Kirby and Hazzard Kirby; sister, Mary Ellen Kirby Hall; grandson, Jimmy Hunter; granddaughters, Frances Diane Hunter, Jean Horn Woods, Mindy Louise Hutchison and Janice Gail Hunter Whiting; and great-grandson, P.J. Murphey.

Gary JohnsonGary Nolen Johnson, age 72, of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. Thomas Hospital in Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 12Noon in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Brother Jason Malham officiating. Burial will follow in the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery in Pegram at 2pm with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until the hour of service at Noon.

Mr. Johnson was born July 25, 1945 in Nashville to the late Nolen and Margaret Louise Pugh Johnson. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy, and worked in the Construction Industry as a Sprinkler Fitter.

In addition to his parents Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Johnson and Doug Johnson and his sister, Teresa Johnson.
