Obituary for Jerry Hollis Duncan

Jerry Hollis DuncanJerry Hollis Duncan, 57, of Springfield, died Monday December 26, 2016 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 29th at 12 noon at the Main Street Church of Christ the Bro. Barry Throneberry, Bro. Robbie Mackenzie, and Dr. Tommy Crunk officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with David Hall, Damon Hall, Charlie Burney, Kevin Vaughn, Thad Dorris, and Craig Harris serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Main Street Church of Christ, Daryl Hall, Thomas Burney, and Bruce Staggs. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. All visitation will be at the Main Street Church of Christ.

Jerry was born February 9, 1959 in Robertson County to the late Hollis and Edna Holthouser Duncan. He was a graduate of the Springfield High School Class of 1977. Jerry was co-owner of Lee’s Home Center in Springfield. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. He was a former softball coach at East Robertson, and a former football referee and baseball umpire. Jerry loved woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Donna Burney, brother-in-law: Philip Burney, and his nephew: Wesley Burney.

floral squareJerry is survived by his wife: Lisa Ward Duncan of Springfield, son and fiancée: Hunter Duncan and Andrea Smith of Hermitage, honorary son: Christopher Zubrod of Nashville, daughters and sons-in-law: Katelyn and Seth Doxey of Murfreesboro, Holli and Derek Moore of Greenbrier, granddaughter: Brooklynn Moore of Greenbrier, sister and brother-in-law: Glenda and Glen Hall of Hopkinsville, KY, nephews: Thomas and Charlie Burney, David (Jaina) Hall, Damon (Rae) Hall.

Rita Faye Heatherly, age 61 of Springfield, died Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Heatherly was born April 2, 1955 in Logan County, KY to the late Gossett Smith and Sara Jane Moon Smith. She formerly worked at the Robertson County Sherriff’s Office. She loved scrap booking, cooking, and sewing.

Virginia EdenVirginia Eden, age 91 of Springfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center with her family by her side. Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. David Harper officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Eden was born November 12, 1925 in Robertson County to the late Charles Robert “Bob” and Rosa Mai Douglas Raymer, Sr. She was a member of New Life General Baptist Church and retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken. She loved to cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Eden; brothers, Charles Robert floral squareRaymer, Jr. and Johnny Raymer; and a sister, Louise Thompson.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Glen Eden of Springfield and Tony and Wanda Eden of Portland; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Joe Teasley of Springfield; sister, Betty Darrow of Springfield; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Scott was the owner and operator of Scott B. Bowers & Associates. He was of the Methodist faith. Scott enjoyed boating and traveling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Terry Joe Bowers.

Scott is survived by his husband: Ed Gibbs of Cottontown, nephew: Jeff Bowers of Seattle, WA, and by the loves of his life, his two dachshunds: Maggie & Molly.

Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Mike Barnett, Jeff Freeman, Kevin Gray, Ben Dale, Mark Hollingsworth, Blake Hollingsworth, Floyd Ellis, and Michael “Buzzy” Poole serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were James “Turkey” Pope and Joe Head. The family received friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the hour of service.

Ms. Baker was born December 3, 1934 in Robertson County to the late Russell Henry and Vada Crabtree Freeman, Sr. She was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church and formerly worked in customer service at WDBL radio. She loved her family and friends, her church, and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Alan Baker; a daughter, Pamela Jo Gay; brothers, John Ed Freeman and Russell Henry Freeman, Jr.; and sisters, Wanda Louise Freeman Gray and Mona Raye Freeman Gann.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Lynne and Arthur L. Dalley of Apopka, FL and Luanne and Thomas Hugh Head of Hendersonville; daughter-in-law, Harley Baker of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Marissa Lynne Hunter, Amber Nicole Wahid, Jessica Anne Dale, Erica Lynne Vasquez, Laura Elizabeth Dalley, Matthew Lloyd Dalley, and Dylan Clay Head; step floral squaregrandchildren, Mitchell Hale, Brian Head, and Lisa Head; and great grandchildren, Rayan, Leila, and Maya Wahid and Nicholas D. Mr. Thomason was born August 18, 1966 in Hardin County to Larry Thomason and the late Wanda Hill Thomason. He worked in the tool and dye business.

He is survived by his father, Larry Thomason of Cross Plains; sister, Jackie Estes and husband, Rick of Orlinda; nieces, Amelia Eden of Clarksville and Halie Russell and husband, Allen of Clarksville; great niece, Kaegen Pentecost; great nephew, Kingslee Eden; and several cousins.

His remains will be cremated and a memorial service scheduled at a later date.

He was born on September 14, 1948 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Genie and E. Lois Hazel Blackburn Hutcherson. He was a self-employed “Jack-of-all-trades” and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Hutcherson Harper; and brothers, Jimmie Clay Hutcherson and Bobby Wayne Hutcherson.

He was born April 10, 1921 in White House, TN to William & Sarah Wheeler Tate. He worked as a farmer and was a long time member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was also a 60+ year member of Burton Lodge #272. He was a friend to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil & Paul Tate. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 75 years, Jewel Charlton Tate, White House, TN; son, Wayne (Christeene) Tate; grandsons, Bob (April) Tate, Don (Raychel) Enck, and Eric (Amy) Enck; great-grandchildren, Alex Tate, Carla Tate, Caleb Enck, Caitlin Enck & Chloe Amrhein; great-great-grandsons, Brayden McCormack and Landen McCormack; sisters, Viola Kelly & Dot Young.

Funeral service was held Saturday, December 24, 2016 at 2pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Rev. Sam Brown officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery with Bob Tate, Don Enck, Eric Enck, Alex Tate, Caleb Enck and Thad Tatum serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Patterson, John Ewing Jernigan, Tony Tate, Larry Tate, Jim Blankenship, W.G. Jones, Buddy Pinson, Kevin Ragland, Paul West, David Palmer and Jimmy Underwood.

Jimmy was born on June 13, 1968 in Dickson, Tennessee. He was a retired United States Air Force veteran and was the owner of Vette Parts Plus, Inc.

He is preceded in death by an infant niece, Ashley.

Mr. McDaniel was born March 20, 1935 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late Finis & Lorene Haddock McDaniel. He retired as a counter clerk for an auto parts wholesaler and was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Troy McDaniel, and grandson, Joey McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca McDaniel; grandchildren, Jennifer McDaniel of Dublin, Ohio, Jerre (Sahvanna) McDaniel of Lebanon; and great-granddaughters, Desi McDaniel, and Halia, Bailey, and Lexi McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Novy Willard, White House, TN; sons,Jerry Kaye Willard, White House, TN, Scott David Willard, Charlotte, NC and Chris Willard, Morgantown, WV; daughters, Cheryl (Danny) Morris, White House, TN, Shelley (Robert) Evenson, St. Charles, MO and Sheila (John) Weir, Charlotte, NC; sister, Nettie Josephine (Wade) Hanes, Columbus, OH; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
