Obituary for Alice Marie Vernon

Alice Marie VernonAlice Marie Vernon, 82, of Springfield, died Sunday January 14, 2018 at Springfield Heights Assisted Living. Her remains were cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. Mrs. Vernon was born February 1, 1935 in Covington, VA to the late William Alton and Grace Belle Merritt Taylor. She was a retired Welcome Center Travel Hostess with the State of Virginia, was a member of Covington Baptist Church in Covington, VA, and had a great love for cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Loderick Vernon, her brother: William A. Taylor, Jr., and by her sisters: Mary Taylor Dressler and Shirley May Taylor. Mrs. Vernon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Rayburn Franklin and Janet Alfred, Jr., of Covington, VA, her daughter and son-in-law; Kathy and Doug Williams of Springfield, her sister: Elsie Lee Slough of floral squareRichmond, VA, her grandchildren: Marcie Alfred, Emily Rickett, and Jessica Walton, and five great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to the staff of Springfield Heights for the care and love shown to Mrs. Vernon during her years of living there.

Richard M. Browning, age 86 of Cross Plains, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Milldale Chapel with Pastor Kent Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Plains Cemetery with Daniel Pearson, Barry Jones, Harold Pearson, Dennis George, Charles Reid, and Jim Fisher serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 AM until the hour of service at 2 pm.

Mr. Browning was born August 27, 1931 in Robertson County to the late Herman and Cecil Dotson Browning. He was a member of Milldale Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired from Unarco where he worked in the maintenance department and his favorite hobby was CB radios in which he went by the handle “Hound Dog”.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Browning of Cross Plains; daughter, Ann Beth Pearson and husband Harold of Cross Plains; son Robert E. Browning and wife Jan of Mt. Juliet; grandson, Daniel Pearson and wife Shanda; granddaughter Nicole Jones and husband Barry; and great grandchildren, Nataleigh Joe Pearson, Priscilla Faith Pearson, Braden Ace Jones, and Brody Knox Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris and Willie Darrow officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Steve Darrow, Paul Darrow, John Robert Darrow, Phillip Darrow, and Willie Darrow serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

floral squareMr. Darrow was born January 10, 1967 in Robertson County to Betty Darrow of Springfield and the late Willie Alfred Darrow. He loved plants and was very knowledgeable of them. He could name a plant by just looking at a leaf of it. He enjoyed gardening and drawing. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Darrow.

Besides his mother he is survived by brothers, Willie Darrow and wife Judy, David Darrow, Steve Darrow and wife Darlene, and Phillip Darrow, all of Springfield.

Jonathan Oliver IsenbergAge 44 of Portland, TN passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. He was born August 15, 1973 in Nashville, TN to James W. and Olivia Lassiter Isenberg.

He worked as a supervisor for Vallen Distributing Incorporated. He was an avid fan of the movie Walking Dead, loved video games and enjoyed eating. He is preceded in death by his father, James W. Isenberg.

He is survived by his mother, Olivia Isenberg (James O. Blaylock), White House, TN; son, Todd J. Isenberg, Clarksville, TN; daughters, Charlene M. Isenberg, Nashville, TN and Jamie L. Isenberg, Clarksville, TN; sister, Mary F. Isenberg(Richard), Cottontown, TN; step-sister, Renee’ Blaylock (Rick) Short, White floral squareHouse, TN; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Thurman Edward "Ed" WatsonThurman Edward “Ed” Watson, age 68 of Greenbrier passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at his residence.

The family will receive friends from 10am to 12 noon on Monday, January 22, 2018 with the funeral following at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 2pm at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN.

He was born in Germany on July 31, 1949 to the late Thurman Ewing Watson and Irene Schmidt Watson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Carol Chumbley Watson.

Obituary for Rev. Don Ellis

Rev. Don EllisWilliam Donald Ellis, 87, of Fairfield, TX formerly of Longview, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Fairfield.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1931, in Montgomery County, TN to the late William Robert and Alice Gertrude Gower Ellis. He graduated from Coopertown High School in Coopertown, TN with the class of 1949, and attended Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN and served as a minister his entire life. He married Emma Elizabeth Johnson on Sept. 4, 1954, in Greenville, TN and she preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2000. Mr. Ellis moved to Fairfield three years ago from Longview. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Carthage.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Bobby Ray Ellis; and son, Donald Jewel Ellis.

Survivors include his son, Jonathan David Ellis and wife Cheryl of Winona, TX; daughters, Sheila Elizabeth James of Beaumont, TX, Marla Marie Walker and husband Bob of Cedar Hill, TN, and Wendy Sue Andrews and husband Bill of Fairfield, TX; brothers, Robert Bell Ellis of Coopertown, TN, Mac Welbur Ellis of Pleasant View, TN, Joe Bailey Ellis and wife Jeri of Nashville, TN, and Jewel Ellis and wife Frances of Carthage, TX; sisters, Esterlene Barnett of Chapmansboro, TN, Margie June Crutcher and husband Stanley of Coopertown, Evangeline Clinard and husband Walter of Cedar Hill, Mary Dimple Balthrop and husband Clyde of Cedar Hill, and Bonnie Faye Balthrop and husband William of Chapmansboro; 10 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, TX with Bro. Mike Fields and Bro. Shane King officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Roy C. Mr. Mason was born June 6, 1940 in Nashville to the late Granville and Edith Hooper Mason. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Marvin Crouch, Brother Joe Rushing and Faye Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Harold Jackson, Elliot Jackson, Cody Stubblefield, Colin Stubblefield, Theron Hicks, and Donald Brown serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Faye Jackson, Clay Stubblefield, Lucy Hicks, Jayne Harris Brown and Dr. Teresa Williams.

Ms. Gregory was born December 26, 1950 in Livingston, TN to the late Cecil and Hester Wheat Gore. She was a 1969 graduate of Springfield High School and furthered her education through the Tennessee Bankers Association. She was a Commercial Lending Assistant for nearly 30 years, retiring from The Farmers Bank after 20 plus years of service. Ms. Gregory was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ, a part of the “Friday Night Chicks” ladies dinner group and was an avid cat lover.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Gregory is preceded in death by her sister, Janie Gore Gunn and her brother-in-law, Joe Gunn. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Paige Gregory of Piney Flats, TN; her cats, Emma and Saki; and a host of dear friends.

Mr. Fisher was born October 3, 1936 in Burke, NY to the late Clifford Fisher, Sr. and the late Pauline Church Fisher Turcotte. He was the owner of “Springfield Small Engine” and was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents Mr. Fisher is preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Helen Fisher, grandson, Lawrence Fisher, sister, Joyce Jones, brother, Richard Fisher and daughter-in-law, Amy Fisher.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife, Deborah Crawford Fisher; sons, Edward (Janie) Fisher and Michael (DeAun) Fisher, both of MA, Richard (Sara) Fisher of OK, Mark (Doreen) Fisher of Goodlettsville and Noel Fisher of Greenbrier; step-sons, Michael (Stephanie) Wilson of Mt.
