James Manns was born in Springfield, (May 21, 1983 – January 4, 2019) Tennessee to Wilma Henderson Manns and Ricky Ketchmark. He passed unexpectedly on Jan 4, 2019 at age of 35 at his home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

He is survived by the love of his life Brooke Hinkle and their daughters Jamie and Amber Manns; his mother Wilma Manns of West Palm Beach, Florida; his brother Robert and his wife Teresa and their daughters Tabitha and Alyssa Manns of Springfield, Tennessee; Aunt Judy Henderson of Springfield. TN; Aunt Patricia Meira of West Palm Beach, Florida, and many loving cousins.

floral squareHe had many friends from childhood that remained close, many former coworkers he was close to, and friends on Facebook that he never met but talked to almost everyday. Most everyone who knew him would say what a kind and loving person he was. He will truly be missed.

His teen years he enjoyed going fishing with mom and brother.
He always enjoyed going home to visit family in Tennessee when he could. Going to Aunt Judy’s to let the girls ride her horse Carmilla.
He vacationed with Brooke and girls with friends in Carolina and in Kentucky.

Obituary for Donald Joseph “Donnie” Miller

Donald Joseph “Donnie” Miller, age 72 of Goodlettsville, TN, died Tuesday January 15, 2019, at St Thomas Midtown hospital.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the St. Michaels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Michaels Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17 from 4 pm until 8 pm and again on Friday, January 18 from 9 am until 10 am.

Donnie was born May 11, 1946, in Washington, DC to the late Joseph L. and Clara Elizabeth Neir Miller. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He worked as a tour bus driver, was a talented and award-winning artist, automotive painter and graphic designer. He also served as a volunteer fireman with the Ridgetop Fire Department.

floral squareMr. Miller is survived by his son, Clayton Miller of Goodlettsville, TN; stepson, Chris Racht of Madison, TN; stepdaughters, Amanda Johnson of Goodlettsville, TN, and Brittany (Doug) Werth of Orlando, FL; and stepgrandchildren, Taylor Johnson and Douglas Werth II.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to help with Donnie’s funeral expense, if so desired. All donations may be made to Robertson County Funeral Home.

Lerlene Edwards Wilson, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Monday January 14, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 17th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Don Sensing officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Les Rossiter, Craig Rossiter, Chase Rossiter, Robert Wilson, Mark Pitt, Jim Williams, Cayman Wilson, and Terry Martin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Wilson, Jimmy Dorris, Randy Lane, and Rob Odum. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilson was born June 17, 1935 in Robertson County to the late Buford and Leona Binkley Edwards. She was a retired bookkeeper from Super X/Revco and was floral squarea member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church. She always loved spending time with her friends and family. Thursday was always her hair dresser and Cracker Barrel day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Paul G. Wilson, and by her brother: Donald Edwards.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son: Ray Gordon Wilson and fiancée Fredia Utley of Springfield, her daughter: Lillie Rossiter and husband Les of Springfield, her grandchildren: Robert Wilson, Craig and Chase Rossiter, and by her great grandchildren: Kaylee and Cayman Wilson.

Obituary for Hilda Lunn Swearingen

Hilda Lunn Swearingen, age 85 of Orlinda, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Rushing and Bro. Johnny Trail officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Wade Swearingen, Davis Murray, John Michael Hobdy, Archie Prince, Herbert Wade, Sammy Justice, Jody Swearingen, and Bill Swearingen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Anderson, Tony Austin, Paul Wisener, Harold Jackson, and Aubrey Browning. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 until 8 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Swearingen was born August 26, 1933 in Davidson County to the late E.F. and Verna Langsdon Lunn. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and previously a member of Main Street Church of Christ, where she taught the 4-year-old Sunday School class for more than 30 years. After graduation from Isaac Litton High School, she worked at First American National Bank until she married. She was a former secretary for the Robertson County School system, working at North Robertson Elementary, Krisle Elementary, Robertson County Learning Center, and Springfield High School. After her retirement from the school system, she worked at the Main Street Church of Christ Mom’s Day Out program for several years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed being around people, especially her family. She spent time each day reading her Bible. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. “Hoot” Swearingen, and a sister, Bonnye Knight.

She is survived by her sons, Dale Swearingen and wife Karen of Orlinda and Joe Dodd Swearingen and wife Julie of Springfield; brother, Phillip Lunn and wife Anita of Pleasant View; sister, Maye Lunn of Pleasant View; grandchildren, Wade Swearingen and wife Laura of Springfield, Ana Swearingen of Springfield, Megan floral squareMurray and husband Davis of Springfield, Haley Hobdy and husband John Michael of Cross Plains; and Ava Swearingen of Springfield.

Obituary for Roger Dale Merritt

Roger Dale Merritt, Sr., 66, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday January 12th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Brandon Patterson officiating. The family received friends on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Merritt was born February 10, 1952 in Nashville to the late Henry Link and Mary Emma Rodgers Merritt. His lifetime career was auto mechanic and body work, but he was always a jack of all trades and could do anything he set his mind to doing. Mr. Merritt loved NASCAR, but his love was Stock Car Racing. He primarily raced at Highland Rim and the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. For those that knew him and loved him, he was always known as “The Supervisor” at the Nashville race shop. He was of the Baptist faith, having been baptized at Grace Baptist Church in Nashville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Jason Brian Merritt and by his brother: William Merritt.

B.J. was born March 21, 1980 in Springfield. He worked in general labor jobs and was of the Baptist faith. B.J. loved the Philadelphia Eagles football team and always loved his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Alisha Randolph Samon, his step-father: Gregory Abbott, and his grandparents: Jodie and Anna Parks.

She is survived by daughters, Jo Ann (Tommy) Miskell and Janice (Stan) Wisner; grandson, Andy (April) Wisner; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Wisner, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 12pm. Burial of Mrs. Purviance’s cremains will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Purviance was born September 14, 1924 in Barren Plains to the late J.E. and Mabel Corbin Hollingsworth. She was a homemaker and member of the Barren Plains Baptist Church. She loved to read, loved her dog, “Buddy” and her lap-dog, “Jake”.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Purviance is preceded in death by her husband, U.S.A.F. Retired Major Alfred Purviance.

Mrs. Purviance is survived by her sons, Jack H. Purviance of Taylors, SC and Jimmy (Annette) Purviance of Springfield; grandchildren, Jim (Cindy) Purviance and Zachary (Anna) Purviance of Greer, SC; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Claire and Brayden of Greer, SC; sister-in-law, Thelma L. Ralph McCoy DixonRalph McCoy Dixon, age 90 of Hendersonville, TN, was born on April 25, 1928 and transitioned into new life on January 14, 2019 at his home.

Ralph was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly served 22 years in the US Navy, retired from Dixie Graphics, and was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. His love of hunting and fishing transitioned into a love of Golf, which he enjoyed with his wife and daughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend and Ms. P.M. Dixon; sister, Doris; brother, Billy; and sisters, Inez Jennings, and Carol Oaks. He is survived by his wife floral squareof 66 years, Reba Mundy Dixon; daughter, Belinda Harris; and grandchild, Christopher David Harris.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Yates is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thomas Yates, their infant son, Everette Thomas Yates, and her sisters, Ruth Chambliss, Grace Dorris, Elizabeth Folsom and Claudia Anderson.

Bill was a proud Marine who loved the country he served. He was a loving father and husband. He held a strong faith in Christ and brought His love to others through his unending kindness and generosity.

He is preceded in death by a brother, William Irving. Margaret "Janice" BrassellAge 66 of White House passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her home. She was born November 24, 1952 in Nashville, TN to Edward Joseph & Helen Elizabeth Walker Stone. She worked as an LPN with the Tennessee Department of Corrections before becoming disabled. She continued caring for people even after retiring from nursing, making sure they took their medications and seeing to their health needs. She loved taking pictures and she loved dogs. She especially loved celebrating new arrivals into the family and was an avid Titans fan. She was of the Catholic faith. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Calvin Lee MinesingerCalvin Lee Minesinger, age 78 of Greenbrier, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

The family will receive friends 11 am to 12 pm on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at Ridgetop Seventh Day Adventist Church with the funeral service following at 12 pm with Pastor William Little officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.

Cal was born in Pughtown, WV on October 26, 1940 to the late Norman Wilhelm and Ruth Lang Minesinger. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Minesinger and David Minesinger.

He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal (1st award), the Good Conduct Medal (1st award) and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. He later worked as a Real Estate sales agent and was a member of the Ridgetop Seventh Day Adventist Church.

floral squareHe is survived by sons, Calvin Lee (Lonnel) Minesinger, Jr. of OK, Jacob “Jake” (Jessica) Minesinger of OH, sister, Esther (Howard) Sutton of Goodlettsville, TN and seven (7) grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chad Andrew, Eric Berger, Brian Beard, Seth Ramsey, Micah Armantrout, Truman Raines, Chris Armantrout and Morgan Hellgren.

He was born in Orlinda, TN on June 21, 1931 to the late John Wesley and Effie Farris Honeycutt.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Wilson Honeycutt; daughters, Loretta McMurtry and Linda Graves.

Visitation was held at the church on Sunday from 12:30pm until the hour of service at 2pm.

Mrs. McReynolds was born September 16, 1921 to the late Harry Gaines and Mae Crafton Shelton of Logan County, KY. She was a homemaker and member of the Springfield First United Methodist church. She dedicated her entire life to Christ, her home and her family.

In addition to her parents Mrs. McReynolds is preceded in death by her husband, James Chesterfield “J.C.” McReynolds, Jr., brothers and sister-in-law, Morris Shelton and Earl and Parthy Shelton.

(Charles) Winkler of Nashville; sister-in-law, Hattie Shelton; grandchildren, Deborah M. (Dan) Knight, Chip Winkler, Mark Winkler and Shea McReynolds Robbins; great-grandchildren, Victoria Malone, Caleb Malone, Daniel Knight, Austin Knight and Justin Winkler; and great-great-grandchild, Cadence Robbins.

Obituary for Vida Lillian Thompson

Vida Lillian ThompsonVida Lillian Thompson, age 104, of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services were held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View, Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Bro. Harold Miller officiating. Burial followed at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury, Tennessee with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00-4:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM .

Mrs. Thompson was born on February 5, 1914 in Woodbury, Tennessee to the late Ike and Leathie Cummins Vinson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, Don Thompson; caregiver, Judy Thompson; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
