Obituary for Robert Connell Robertson

Robert Connell RobertsonRobert Connell Robertson, 72, of Cedar Hill, died Sunday January 29, 2017 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday February 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Miller and Rev. Steve Pendley officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Michael Morris, Randy Morris, Clay Jones, Pat Jones, Jason Keith, Bubba Biederman, Joe Biederman, and Robert Russell serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Robertson was born January 9, 1945 in Logan County, KY to the late Robert M. and Janie Frances McEwing Robertson. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Center Point Baptist Church. Mr. Robertson loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved meeting and “talking” with people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Glenn Robertson, and by his siblings: Peggy Keith, William Robertson, and Betty Robertson.

floral squareMr. Robertson is survived by his wife: Linda Morris Robertson of Cedar Hill, son and daughter-in-laws: Derrick and Crystal Robertson of Cedar Hill, Kelly Robertson of Cedar Hill, brothers and sister-in-law: Howard Robertson of Kentucky, Wayne and Faye Robertson of Springfield, sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn and David Keith of Springfield, Vikki and Jimmy McQuiston of Greenbrier, Dail and Jay Ziligman of Greenbrier, grandchildren: Lucas, Makenzie, Isaac, and Emily Robertson.

Robertson County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary for Louise Poole

Louise PooleMary Louise Cofer Poole “Poppy” passed away at the age of 95 in Nashville, TN on Friday, January 27, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday January 30, 2017 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12 pm until 1:45 pm.

She was born in Coopertown, TN on September 30, 1921. She is survived by her son Jerry (Susy) Poole, granddaughters Alicia (Chazz) Nelson, Holly (Wade) Burdette and Laura (Eric) DiPasquale and great grandchildren Caroline, Megan, Brett and Maddie Nelson, Landon Burdette and Scarlett and Aidan DiPasquale. She is also survived by her brother Lawrence (Diane) Cofer, 3 nephews and a niece and their families.
She married Willie Mathews Poole in 1940 and worked as a riveter for many years at Wilson Sporting Goods in Springfield. She was a faithful member of Main Street Church of Christ. After her husband’s death in 1982, she traveled to Europe, Hawaii and Canada. She also traveled with her granddaughters to the Bahamas and the western United States.

She moved to Maybelle Carter Senior Living in Madison in 2001 and made many new friends but still treasured and maintained her old friendships. She enjoyed ladies’ Bible studies, daily Bible reading, lunch outings, Bingo and musical programs. She was beloved by all who met her because of her sweet, compassionate spirit and floral squarewanting to help others in any way she could. She loved her family and friends and her pet cats. “Poppy” will be missed by all who loved her.

The family request if so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Main Street Church of Christ Youth Group or to a charity of your choice. All donations may be sent care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Obituary for Joyce Anita Hargrove

Joyce Anita HargroveTo know Dr. Joyce Jarrett Hargrove was to know admiration. If you were to look it up in the dictionary you will find her face. She never met a stranger. She was born December 3, 1947 in Lebanon, Tennessee to the late Harrison McKinley and Alberta Cloud Jarrett.

At an early age, she professed her love for Christ. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.

Joyce graduated from Bransford High School in 1965. She matriculated to Tennessee State University, while working on her degree in Social Work, she obtained a license as a Practical Nurse. She continued her education receiving her Masters in Social Work and Doctorate in Education.

In August 1981, she was united in holy matrimony to the late David Lee Hargrove. To this union, one daughter was born, Gabrielle Leah Hargrove-Owens.
Prior to beginning her teaching career, she worked at several hospitals in Ohio, Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee as a social worker. To continue her love of enlightening people, she taught at Austin Peay State University and Highland Crest College until her passing.

She was an active member of the Bransford High School Alumni Association and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She was an avid fan of the NBA.
Dr. Joyce departed this earth on January 25, 2017. Seven siblings preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted daughter, Gabrielle Hargrove-Owens; a son-in-law, Samuel Owens; two grandchildren, David and Lailah Owens; two brothers, Henry Jarrett and Reverend John Jarrett, both of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Josie Jarrett of Springfield, TN and Ervina Jarrett of Nashville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to her niece, Linda Lydia.

floral squareFuneral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Martin P. Winslow officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 until 8 PM with the family present from 6 until 8 at the Robertson County Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10 AM until the hour of service at the church.

Betty Jean MooreBetty Jean Pace Moore, 86, of Goodlettsville, died Saturday January 21, 2017 at Ridgetop Haven Nursing Center. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday January 25th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Marlar and Pastor Wayne Ralph officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Bobby Francis, Barry Moore, Andy Moore, Isiah Taylor, Shawn Speck, and Jason Henley serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moore was born June 20, 1930 in Davidson County to the late James Roy and Virginia Louise Mills Pace. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion’s Chapel Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Moore loved her family, scrapbooking, crocheting, and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Art Archie Moore.

She was born to Bill and Alice Brent of Clarksville, Tn. on November 11, 1937.

She was a retired teacher who taught in the Montgomery Co. and Sumner Co. School Systems for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of the Hendersonville Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her daughters; Lisa (Bill) Gilliam and Lynn Brent, grandchildren; Katie Lindsey, Kyle Gillian, Matt Gilliam and Michael Brent, great-grandchildren; Olivia Lindsey, Addie Lindsey, Luke Gillian and Jake Gilliam, cousin; Pat Davis.

Her family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and from 11 a.m. until her Celebration of Life Service at 12 p.m on Wednesday, floral squareFebruary 1 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Sango, TN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cedar Hill, TN. A Funeral Mass followed at 12:00 pm at the church with Father Anthony Lopez officiating. Burial followed in St. Michaels Catholic Church Cemetery.

She was born in Nashville, TN on March 19, 1925 to the late Robert Frances and Frances Elizabeth Traughber Byrnes. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Byrne.

floral squareShe resided in California for much of her life and was a Secretary for an Insurance Agency before retiring and moving back to Greenbrier, TN. She loved reading and was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her caregiver, Jody Greenwell. Friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial of her ashes will be at a later date in the Pleasant View United Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation with the family was held Saturday from 2-5:00PM and again on Sunday from 1PM till the hour of service.

Mrs. Dyce was born October 27, 1929 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Leander and Mary Vann. She was a retired bank teller and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Dyce, Jr.; granddaughter, Sabrina Yvonne Oatsvall; brothers, L.J. Vann, Dean Vann , Earl Cofer Vann; and sister, Shelby Ellis.

She is survived by her son, Mickey (Marsha) Dyce of Chapmansboro; daughter, Melonee (James) Oatsvall of Murfreesboro; sisters, Margaret Gilmore, Bernice Key, Willie Ann Moulton, all of Pleasant View, Grace (Jimmy) Winn of Chapmansboro; floral squaregrandchildren, Jennifer (Dennis Thompson) Oatsvall of LaVergne, TN, Jacob (Emily) Dyce of Pleasant View; and great-granddaughter, Abbigayle Dyce.

Martha Elizabeth BrileyAge 96 of Cottontown passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2017 at the Bridge at Highland in Portland. She was born November 9, 1920 in Robertson County, TN to Claude Robert and Martha Estel Price Benton. During World War II, she worked at Vultee and afterward she worked as a seamstress for the Portland Shirt Factory. She then worked on the farm helping to raise her family. She loved plants, gardening and taking care of her home and her family most of all. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin B. Briley; daughter, Judy Elaine Wilkinson. She is survived by grandsons, Terry (Lynn) Madewell and Kevin (Larissa) Madewell; great grandson, Chase Madewell; 2 great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma Madewell.

Funeral service was held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11am the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Larry Pedigo officiating. Interment floral squarefollowed in Hillcrest Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 6-8pm and Thursday, January 26, 2016 9:30am-11am at the funeral home.
