Obituary for Robert Austin Mabery

Robert Austin Mabery, age 62 of Greenbrier, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his home. His remains are to be cremated and no service is planned at this time.

Mr. Mabery was born October 14, 1956 in Rochester, IN to the late R.V. and Elizabeth Clemmons Mabery. He worked in construction as a carpenter and loved to coon hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Mabery.

Obituary for Judy Carol Wilson

Judy Carol Wilson, age 66 of Greenbrier, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Waters of Robertson.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel; of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 until 8 PM and Friday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Wilson was born April 4, 1952 in Robertson County. She was retired from the Embroidery Company. She loved her work and riding Harley’s with her husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Henry Young Haley and his wife Geraldine; her mother, Ella Louise Haley Neatherton and her husband Harold; and by a brother, David Y. Haley.

Obituary for Dane Brooks “Bo” Roath

Dane Brooks “Bo” Roath, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Washburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Clint Johnson, Josh Roath, Tyler Roath, Sam Roath, Brian Simpson, Trent Simpson, and Lucas Simpson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad and Rush Davidson. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Bo was born December 5, 1953, in Springfield to the late Joseph and Helen Link Roath. He was retired from Logan Aluminum, where he worked in maintenance. Bo loved antique cars and was especially proud of his 1959 Corvette. He lived his life for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was always there for his siblings and his neighbors. He might not give you the shirt off his back, but he would certainly buy you a shirt to wear. Bo was a friend to all that knew him.

Bo is survived by his wife of 44 years: Carolyn Byrd Roath of Springfield, his son and daughter-in-law: Gregory and Amanda Roath of Shreveport, LA, his daughter: Amanda “Mandy” Goodwin of Springfield, his grandchildren: Dane Blake DeShane, Brooklyn Denise Carroll, Carson Gregory Roath, and Noah Gavin Roath, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Pete and Jennie Roath of Springfield, Andy and Denise Roath of Adairville, KY, Sanford “Beno” and Kim Roath of Springfield, his sisters and brothers-in-law: Connie and Ray Davidson of Brentwood, Janice Pinkleton of Springfield, Jennifer and David Simpson of Portland.

Obituary For Marilyn Joyce Stromstedt Hollister

Marilyn Joyce Stromstedt Hollister, 84, of Springfield, TN passed away on Sunday March 17, 2019. Marilyn was born September 18, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Hugo and Elsbeth Huebner Stromstedt.

She was a retired Librarian from Woodstock Public Library in Woodstock, IL. After retirement and moving to Springfield, she worked as a Ward Clerk at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. Marilyn was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, TN, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her favorite hobbies in life were cooking, baking, crafts, Titan’s football, flower gardening, her pets, bird watching, watching the Olympics, and holiday gatherings with her family and friends. Marilyn always tried to live life to the fullest and her life’s foundation was based upon her favorite passage of scripture, the 23rd Psalm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Robert Stromstedt. Marilyn is survived by her son: Steve Hollister of Gallatin, TN, her daughters: Susan Hollister of Springfield, TN and Diane Hollister of Nashville, TN, her granddaughter: Alison Hollister Sheppard and her husband Conor and her great grandchildren: Arthur and Colin Sheppard, all of Adams, WI, her brothers: Carl Stromstedt of California and Vaughn Gamen of Texas, her sisters: Pam Spano of Chicago, IL and Judy Twadell of Woodstock, IL, her brother-in-law: Chet Hollister of Woodstock, IL, her nephew: Christopher Hollister and his wife Kat of Lakemoor, IL, and by her good friend Jack Walton of Texas.

floral squareA Memorial Service, honoring Marilyn’s life, will be conducted on Sunday March 31st at 3:00 p.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, TN with Reverend Lewis A. Groce officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will gather with friends for a time of fellowship and remembrance in Founder’s Hall of St. Timothy Lutheran Church.

Linda Faye Traughber, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday March 16, 2019 at Skyline Medical Center.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday March 20th at 5:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Traughber was born April 5, 1945 in Springfield. She worked many years as a CNA at Elmhurst Nursing Home in Springfield. Mrs. Traughber was of the Baptist faith. She was always a hard worker and lived her life for all her grandbabies. She enjoyed reading and could draw anything that she wished to draw. Mrs. Traughber was preceded in death by her father: Ernest Elliott, her mother: Lizzie Slayton Bugg, and by her siblings: Danny Ray Elliott, Joe Elliott, William Bugg, and Pee Wee Bugg.

Obituary For Robert Dwayne Bagwell

Robert Dwayne Bagwell, 55, of Greenbrier, passed away on Friday March 15, 2019 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday March 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. The family received friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Dwayne was born December 13, 1963 in Springfield. He was a machine operator for Berry’s in Old Hickory, which was formerly Dupont/ReMay. He enjoyed golfing and watching sports, especially the Vols and Titans. Dwayne’s favorite pastime was spending time with his Boston Terrier and best friend, Mugg, who he often shared his cheese puff snacks with.

Paul M. Leftrick, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Friday March 15, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday March 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother David Davis and Brother Judson Phenicie officiating. Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jake Simpson, Caleb Simpson, Corey Leftrick, Jared Leftrick, Justin Grissom, and Daniel Meehan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Ryan Leftrick. The family received friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Leftrick was born April 15, 1936 in Springfield to the late Herschel and Bessie Gamble Leftrick. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Leftrick retired from Goad Implement Co. where he worked as a farm machinery mechanic. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Ralph Leftrick.

Era Nell Eubanks ButtAge 95 of Madison passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hartsville Convalescent Center. She was born August 10, 1923 in Sumner County, TN to Edgar Franklin & Ola T. Perdue Eubanks.

She was of the Baptist faith and spent her life praying and ministering to others. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Butt.

She is survived by special cousins, Joyce Gregory, Springfield, TN, Jan Alley (Roger) Portland, TN, floral squareJennifer (Wayland) Cothron, and Sharon Linville (William Henley) both of Hartsville, TN.

Graveside service was held Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 4pm in Restlawn Memory Gardens in Franklin, KY. No visitation was planned.

Melba Jean GilliamMelba Jean Gilliam, age 92 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her residence.

The family will receive friends 10am to 12pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier. The funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home with her nephew Don Oaks officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodson Chapel Cemetery in Cookeville, TN at 3pm.

She was born in Nashville, TN on July 6, 1926 to the late Chalmer Eunice and Birdie McClain Oaks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harold Gilliam.

floral squareShe was a devoted wife and house keeper and worked as a bookkeeper for 47 years at Genesco.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Beth Cook StitesBeth Carlyn Cook Stites, age 84, of Pleasant View, and formerly of Hendersonville, TN, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at NHC in Springfield.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 12 noon at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hendersonville. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday from 4:00pm -8:00pm and again on Thursday from 11:00am until time of service at 12:00pm.

Beth was born on March 26, 1934 in Greenbrier, TN to the late Eldridge Doss and Selma Carlin Bussell Cook/McKinny. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Lee Stites, Sr.; and brother, Mack Cook.

She retired from the Oscar Meyer Company as an Occupational Nurse. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed all kinds of animals and was especially fond of her pets and watching birds, but her family was most dear to her.

Beth is survived by her sons, Danny Smiley and wife Marsha of Pleasant View, Tennessee, Lester B. Stites and wife Ellen of Springfield, and Donald L. Stites, Jr. and wife Leeanne of Springfield; sister, Sonja K. Maxwell of Pembroke, Florida; grandchildren, Serena Collingsworth and husband Brian, Freddie Biggs and wife Andrea, Brian Biggs and wife Denise, Daniel Smiley and wife Brittany, Rachael Ellen Wilson and husband Steven, Rebecca Clinard and husband Chad, Jesse Dean Stites, Jonathan Stites and wife Allie, Jeffery Stites and wife Brittney, Jordan Stites; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He worked in the automotive industry as a body shop manager and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He loved his family, boating, fishing and restoring John Deere tractors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Tommy Grubbs.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, LaVon McIntyre; daughter, Sherry Grubbs, both of White House, TN; brother, Wayne P. (Carmel) McIntyre, Macon, GA; 2 grandchildren, Riley Grubbs and Tina (Johnny) Baker; 1 great-grandchild, Savannah Baker.

Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham cemetery with Nathan Simpkins, Austin Simpkins, Cory Balthrop, Jerremy Williams, Eric Walker, and Owen Newman serving as pallbearers. Don Balthrop, Steve Shepard, Larry Long, Willard Forbes, and Michael Bejma will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, March 22 from 4-8:00PM and Saturday, March 23 from 10-4:00PM and again on Sunday from 12 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 PM.

Mr. Balthrop was born on November 14, 1938 in Chapmansboro, Tennessee to the late Thomas Earl and Minnie Arthetta Evans Balthrop. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was a tobacco farmer. He retired from Hail and Cotton, Inc. after working as a tobacco buyer for over 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Modene Forbes; and brothers, Thomas, Wayne, Ray, Ronnie, and Jackie Dale Balthrop.

Hubert Lee CrawfordHubert Lee Crawford, age 73, of Ridgetop, TN, passed away at Skyline Medical Center, March 16, 2019.

Lee was a proud Military Veteran. He worked for South Central Bell for 35 years. After retirement from SCB, he was Vice-President of SAY Distributing and Operations Manager of IBS, LLC. Then finally enjoyed the last 12 yrs of his life in full retirement.

Lee enjoyed NASCAR races, playing golf, working in his garage, and the company of family and friends. When his wife Cindy was alive, they enjoyed traveling, cruises, and the occasional casino night.

A celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41 South, Greenbrier, TN, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 7pm, with H. D. Jones officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7pm prior to the service.

floral squareLee was born August 14, 1945 in Greenbrier, TN, the son of the late Henry Seay Crawford and Pauline England Crawford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years Cindy Crawford.

He is survived by his brothers: Ray Crawford, Charles Crawford, and sister Joan Parchman; his children: Bill Smith, Brock Smith, Chris Crawford, and Dawn Harris; and his grandchildren: Brittany Giles, Kayla Long, Megan Smith, Derek Gordon, Sarah Beverly Crawford, Christopher Lee Crawford II, Nicholas Groves, and Conner Harris.
