Obituary for Barbara Choate

Barbara ChoateBarbara Ann Cooley Choate, 75, of Springfield, died Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday March 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Smith and Tim Harris officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Love & Friendship Ladies Sunday School class of North Springfield Baptist Church. The family received friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Choate was born July 10, 1942 in Robertson County to the late Luster and Janie Bollinger Cooley. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1960, and was a member of both the New Chapel and Mt. Sharon Home Demonstration Clubs. She was a retired Personnel Manager from Springfield Wal-Mart. Mrs. Choate was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed card making, stamping, cooking, and was a loving wife and mother.

floral squareIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Billy Wade, John Ray, and Luster Cooley, Jr., and by her sister: Dorothy Helen Cooley. Mrs. Choate is survived by her husband: Robert Larry Choate, Sr., of Springfield, son: Robert Larry Choate, Jr., daughter and son-in-law: Robin Leigh and Jim Smith of Greenbrier.

Obituary for Louise Burchett

Louise BurchettLouise Cope Burchett, 94, of Adairville, KY, died Wednesday March 21, 2018 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Saturday March 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Clay Burchett officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY with Billy Traughber, Troy Birdwell, Joe Hendricks, Mark Hendricks, Larry Cox, and Wayne Leding serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burchett was born April 5, 1923 in Robertson County to the late Doc and Irene Taylor Cope. She was a retired seamstress from Red Cap Manufacturing and at the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She loved her family, cooking, playing rook, and for many years she made burial floral squareshrouds for Suzie Austin Dresses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dewey Clayton Burchett, her son: Jerry Clayton Burchett, her daughter: Linda June Drake, her brothers: James Robert and Joseph “Buddy” Cope, her sister: Earlene LaBelle, and by her grandson: Chris Burchett.

Mrs. Burchett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Mike Binkley of Springfield, grandchildren: Clay Burchett, John Drake, Trinity Moon, and Kim Duncan, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren

Obituary for Herman Horace Cobb

Herman Horace CobbHerman Horace Cobb, age 83, of Greenbrier passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Alive Hospice, Madison Campus.

The family will receive friends 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday and 10am to 2pm on Wednesday at Austin & Bell Greenbrier. The funeral service will be at 2pm on Wednesday at the funeral home with Bro. Jack Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sharon Cemetery.

He was born in Springfield, TN on July 15, 1934 to the late Thomas A. and Mattie Lou Bradley Cobb.

He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

He was a Pipefitter for Rock City Mechanical until his retirement. He was a lover of yard sales, estate sales, Flea Markets, antique sales and auctions. He was a real bargain hunter and loved to tell stories of where and how he bought things. Some people knew him as the “Moonshine man” even though he didn’t drink it.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Jackson Cobb; son, Bobby Cobb; daughters, Pamela Ann Cobb, Rita Cobb and soon to be husband, Ronnie England, floral squareSherry (Brent) Beadle; grandchildren, Kyle Wix, Connor Beadle and brother, Harlan Cobb.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Wix, Connor Beadle, Christopher Jackson, Michael “Buddy” Hand, Mark “Bubba” Hand and Mark Hand, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Obituary for Bo Carpenter

Bo CarpenterRobert Clifton “Bo” Carpenter, age 64, of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o’clock am, Saturday, March 31st, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Mark Rice officiating.

His remains will be cremated following the funeral service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00PM on Thursday, March 29th, and Friday, March 30th, and again on Saturday beginning at 9:00AM until the hour of service at 10:00AM.

Bo was born on March 16, 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Clifton and Almeda Ivey Carpenter. He and his wife owned and operated a drapery installation business- Installations Unlimited.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, David; sister, Lee Ann; and Aunt Ann.

floral squareSurvivors include his wife, Teresa Balthrop Carpenter; son, Allen Carpenter; daughter, Janie (Bobby) Wray; step-sons, Joe (Tiffany) Carter, and Ray Carter; sister, Dee Dee Walsar; grandchildren, Alexis, Mckenzie, Madison, Mason, Logan, Morgan, Walton, and Bryson.

If so desired, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

He was born September 23, 1938 in White House, TN to Walter Morris and Myrtle Estes Riggsbee. He worked as a farmer and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Riggsbee and Paul Riggsbee; sisters, Mary Poole, Sue Poole and Eva Carter. He is survived by special nieces and nephew, Ann Fulton, Fairfield, TN, Linda Wilhelm, Scottsville, KY and Betty Russell, Gallatin, TN; nephew, Roger Carter, Orlinda, TN; special friends, George and Mattie Frost, White House, TN; many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ila "Demple" ParrishIla Demple Parrish, age 77 of Hendersonville passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Demple, as she was known to her family and friends, was a member of the Luna Lane Church of Christ in Hendersonville. She enjoyed fishing, hunting Ginseng, sewing, quilting and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Rue Crawford; 3 brothers, Sonny Crawford, Dumas Crawford, Clyde Crawford; and her sister, Gladys Wilmoth.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joe “Danny” Parrish; her son, Joe (Ruby) Parrish, Jr.; her daughters, Dana (Jeff) Hargis, Danielle Parrish and Wendy Ann (Harley) Davidson; brothers, Charles D. (Pam) Crawford and Roger Crawford; her sister, Delma (Frankie) Boone; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Her Family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 27, and again on Wednesday, March 28, from 10:00am until her Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am from the Chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Services will be conducted by Nick Rapheal. Active pallbearers will include, Josh Boone, Jacob Boone, Sam Davidson, Neil Hargis, Shannon Hargis, floral squareGary Davidson, Keith Hargis and Anthony Davidson.

Her family would like to say a special “Thank You” to her niece and caretaker, Lana Stafford.

She is survived by her children, Tony (Julie) Poole, Jere (Bubba) Cowan and Chris Waller; her sister, Glenda (David) Binkley; her grandchildren, Chaz (Brittany) Poole, Chelsey (Matthew) Brown, Austin Cowan, Makenzey Cowan, Dustin Cowan and Luke Waller; and her great-granddaughter, Calie Poole.

Her family received friends on Friday, March 23, from 6:00pm-8:00pm and again on Saturday, March 24, from 10:00am until Her Celebration of Life Service at 11:30am at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Bill Overstreet floral squareofficiating. She is survived by her son, Danny E. Griffith; her sister, Maxine Brown; a brother, Richard Collins; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Griffith; and her granddaughter, Morgan Griffith Hobson.

A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.

A memorial service was conducted at 2 o’clock pm, Saturday, March 24th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Greg Smith officiating.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 24th, beginning at 1:00PM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Ms. Bell was born on January 30, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a 1987 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and was a retired Special Education school teacher. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Clarksville Highway Church of Christ.

floral squareShe is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Phillips; and a daughter, Melissa Bell-Williams.

Survivors include her daughter, Miriam Bell (Randy Southall); sisters, Patricia Ann Spivey and Nancy Key; grandchildren, Heather Peacock, Brandi Peacock (Greg Warrick), Tasha Bell (Matthew Harrell), Tyler Bell, Gabby Southall; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
