Obituary for Mark Stevens Pegelow

Mark Stevens Pegelow, 63, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday May 18th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Ashworth officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 18th from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Pegelow was born September 3, 1955 in Silver Creek, NY. He worked for JDAK in Springfield and was a member of Grace Community Fellowship Church in White House. Mr. Pegelow enjoyed both riding and repairing motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his father: Herbert Pegelow and by his brother: Leonard Pegelow.

Aubrey was born August 2, 1978 in Springfield. She was a homemaker and of the Free Will Baptist faith. Aubrey loved singing, photography, animals, and spending all the time she could with her children. She was preceded in death by her father: Donny Darryl Osborne, by her grandparents: James Thomas Fitzgerald, Peggy Rae Burgess, and Ellis Osborne, and by her step-father: James Lamar Ashley.

Dorothy A. West, age 86 of Goodlettsville and formerly of Springfield, died Monday, May 6, 2019 at St. Thomas Mid-Town Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Robby Morgan, Jacob Harned, Robert Morgan, Luke Knight, Arville Knight, and Brian Cope serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM and Thursday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Ms. West was born February 20, 1933 in Robertson County to the late Howell Pope and the late Winnie Wooten Wilson. She was of the Baptist faith. She worked at Southern Heel, K-Mart, and Nagel’s each for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, playing solitaire, and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Joe Wilson; son-in-law, Robert Steven Morgan; brothers, John, Virgil, and Billy Pope; and sister, Jean Eller.

Grace Jane Shroyer Hall, age 80 of Springfield, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 until 8 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Hall was born August 12, 1938 in Wray, CO to the late Orville and Stella Freed Shroyer. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Russell Hall; her son, Joe Hall; and her brother, Donald Shroyer.

Sue Joyce Rippie, age 80 of Greenbrier, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 7, 2019at 12:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Heflin officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brian Rippie, Shawn Barker, troy Williams, Jay Shutt, Michael Shutt, and Eddie McAllister, Jr. serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Rippie was born June 3, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Pope and Lucille Durham West. She was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church and was retired from Atwood. She loved spending time shopping and just riding around. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Rippie, and her brother, Bobby West.

Charles Odell "Chief" Birdwell“Chief”-Age 91 of Cottontown passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his home. He was born May 31, 1927 in Sumner County, TN to Nathan Montgomery and Rosa Lee Callis Birdwell. He worked as a farmer and as a truck driver. He was a member of Birdwell’s Chapel Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Rosa Birdwell; brothers Floyd, J.W. and Bobby Lee Birdwell; sisters, Willie Sue Braswell, Lela Ruth Stancil and Emma Jean Birdwell; infant grandson, Samuel Edwin Marberry.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Frances Parker Birdwell; children, Janice Parks, Ronnie (Linda) Birdwell, Shirley (Rex) Graves, Virginia (Rod) Stamps, Angie floral square(Michael) Marberry; brothers, Wayne Birdwell and Kenneth Birdwell; sisters, Betty Scruggs and Brenda Smith 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Nashville, TN on July 8, 1955 to the late Wilburn E. and Ellen Marie Clinard Krisle. She was also preceded in death by brother, Mark Krisle and sister, Cynthia Darlene Baldwin.

She was a veteran of the US Navy and worked as a Property Manager for Buckingham Properties. She loved gardening, her chickens and dogs, thrift stores floral squareand yard sales (Whoop, Whoop, Whoop!!!).

She is survived by children, John Kevin (Rachael) Davies; daughter, Sharon Marie (Toby) Sabie; sister, Rachel Keeble; grandchildren, Audrey Davies, Alexis Deere, Mackenzie Davies, Dallas Davies, Grace Sabie; nephews, Justin Krisle, Charles Krisle, Joshua Krisle, David Tipton and Stephen Tipton.

Mr. Tucker was born on December 7, 1936 in Christiana, Tennessee to the late Emory and Madie Jones Tucker. George was a 1956 graduate from Castle Heights Military Academy where he served as president of his senior class. He was a teacher in the Sumner County school system for 27 years and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Tucker; and brothers, Tommy and Burney Tucker.

He was born March 6, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana to Elwyn & Edith Johnson Hankins. He worked as a railroad police officer for Rock Island Lines/Iowa Interstate EJ&E Railway before his retirement. He was of the United Methodist faith. He enjoyed fishing, genealogy, history, spending time with his family and traveling. Most of all he loved being a grandfather “Papa”. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Hankins.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Arnold Hankins, Cottontown, TN; son, Andrew (Andrea) Hankins, Ankeny, IA; step-son, Brett Groene, Cottontown, TN; daughter, Jacque (Scott) Anderson, Norwalk, IA; step-daughter, Bridget (John) Stec, Goodlettsville, TN; brother, Ken (Mona) Hankins, Timnath, CO; 9 grandchildren, Kyleigh (Alex) Huntoon, Amanda Anderson, Jordan Anderson, floral squareBennett Hankins, Harrison Stec, Lilah Stec, Gavin Marchant, Kaydence Westergreen and Kahne Westergreen.

George Stanley PorterFuneral services for George Stanley Porter, age 81, of Greenbrier, TN will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, May 11,2019 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier with Pastor Don Sensing of Greenbrier United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery, Springfield, TN.

George was born on August 27, 1937 in Anderson, IN to the late Jacob Stanley Porter and Beatrice Elledge Porter. Mr. Porter served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany for 3 years. It was during this time that he met and married Sigrid Schaefer Porter. They were married for more than 52 years until her death in 2011.

George worked in the trucking industry over 40 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed traveling and being involved with his community. He was an active supporter of the Robertson County Family YMCA Y-Cap afterschool programs, Springfield Senior Center and the youth program at Greenbrier United Methodist Church.

Porter of Nashville, TN, Julia (Woody) Woodard of South Pasadena, FL; son, David (Brenda) Porter of Springfield, TN; grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Woodard and Andy (Emily) Woodard; great grandchildren, Haley Woodard and Liam Woodard; sisters, Lavada Ruddick and Dorothy Quate; and close companion, Beth Allen.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by his brother, David L Porter; and grandson, John R Stewart, Jr.

Ann WilsonAnn G. Wilson, age 94, of Cedar Hill, passed away peacefully at her home May 7, 2019 under the care of Hospice and her caregivers.

Visitation will be held at the Cedar Hill United Methodist Church on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 10am until the Funeral Service at 12pm. Joan Hubbard, Andrew Jones and Eric Limbo will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Mark Harper, Steve Stratton, Craig Berry, Gary Williams, Bob Grimsley and Sandy Aydlett serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Wilson was born November 24, 1924 in Cedar Hill to the late Gertrude Odell Fyke and Thomas Henry Gardner. She was a Christian with a kind, gentle spirit. She was a lifelong pianist and organist of the Cedar Hill United Methodist Church and Porters Chapel United Methodist Church, was a member of the United Methodist Church Women and the DAR. Mrs. Wilson and her husband, Harry, lived and worked in Owensboro, KY for over 40 years. They retired from Texas Gas in 1992 and moved back to her childhood home in 2007.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry Boughton Wilson. She is survived by her first cousins, Ginny and Bob Berry and Ray Gordon Fyke; nieces, Jane Wilson Harper, Beth Wilson Stratton and Marcia Wilson Lawrence; and several cousins.

Bruce Aleander Welch JR.Bruce Alexander Welch, Jr., age 73 of Greenbrier passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.

Bruce was born in Burlison, TN on December 7, 1945 to Bruce Alexander Welch, Sr. and Rebecca Kidd Welch. He was a supervisor with the United States Postal Service. He loved coaching competitive baseball and football, announcing at sporting events.

Obituary for Rudolph “RB” Burford Parker Jr.

Rudolph "RB" Buford Parker Jr.Rudolph Buford “R.B.” Parker Jr., age 92, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Long Hollow Terrace, an assisted living facility in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

He was the only child of his loving parents, Rudolph Parker and Ada Mai (Clark) Parker. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Bertie Parker. He is also survived by four children, Pam Tate, Carol Jones, Buddy Parker, Constance Carter, from his first marriage to Carolyn Parker.

RB Parker Jr. lived a full and rich life and was truly a man that gave freely and generously to those around him. He was blessed to have many dear friends whom he truly loved. RB accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age but rededicated his life to Christ at the age of 76 and was baptized at that time.

RB Parker Jr. was born in Nashville on March 08, 1927. He grew up in Lawrenceburg, TN but made his home in White Bluff, TN on the Promised Land Farm. At the age of 18, he joined the Merchant Marines and served on a ship during World War 2. He was given an honorable discharge from the Coast Guard at the end of the war. Upon returning home to Nashville, he was given the opportunity to attend the YMCA Night Law School. He graduated from the law school in 1950 and immediately began serving as the Assistant District Attorney for Davidson County from 1951-1955, first under District Attorney J. Carlton Loser and later under District Attorney Harry Nichol. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, RB continued his law career in private practice that would span more than 60 years and was one of the longest practicing attorneys in the state of Tennessee. RB represented many interesting and famous people such as Ray Price, Willie Nelson and Chief Justice William O. Douglas. He participated in many significant cases such as the Hoffa prosecution and the Waverly Explosion where he served on the Steering Committee for the numerous plaintiffs. RB’s life at the Legal Bar touched many people. In 1998, Nashville School of Law honored RB during their annual recognition dinner for his outstanding law career. In 2014, he received the AV Preeminent Award from Martindale Hubbell as the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 1pm at the Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield with Brother Joe Rushing and Brother Barry Throneberry officiating.

Visitation was held at the Church on Wednesday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.

Mr. Orczeck was born December 12, 1961 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Mrs. Janice Kelly Orczeck of Greensburg, PA and the late Richard Miller Orczeck. After graduating high school he completed schooling at Oklahoma Farrier School. He worked as a Journeyman tool and die maker and C & C Operator at Cumberland Machine and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ where he served as an Usher/Committee Chairman.

In addition to his father Mr. Orczeck is preceded in death by his grandparents, Agnes Bailey Kelly, James O. Kelly and Sirus Carl and Mildred Miller Orczeck.

In addition to his mother Mr. Orczeck is survived by his wife, Linda Batts Orczeck; step-son, Jason Whittle of Knoxville; step-daughter, Brandy Hogan of Orlinda; floral squarebrothers, Shawn (Laura) Orczeck of Roaring Springs, PA and Seth (Michelle) Orczeck of Bradford, PA; grandchildren, Tyler (Anna) Chowning, Justin Hogan and Mallory Kyser; great-grandchildren, Cole Chowning and Landon Kyser; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
