Obituary for Sammy Earl Meadows

Sammy Earl MeadowsSammy Earl Meadows, 80, of Greenbrier, passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at his home.

uneral services will be conducted Saturday September 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Greenbrier First Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Carroll, Pastor Tee Rawls, Pastor Joey Jones, and Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Caleb, Austin, and Josh Meadows, Cory Padgett, Wayne Adcox, Tyler Adcox, Lynn Davis, Ralph Allen, and Brandon Doss serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class at Greenbrier First Baptist Church, Danny Smith, and Ray Redfern. The family will receive friends at Greenbrier First Baptist Church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Meadows was born July 30, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Earl and Annie Belle Savage Meadows. He graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1957. He went all twelve years of school without missing a day and received an award for twelve years of perfect attendance. Mr. Meadows grew up with a passion for softball, and he always played in the Greenbrier leagues. Until 2015, he was a lifelong member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and had eight years of perfect attendance in Sunday School. Mr. Meadows served on the committee for the Robertson County Baptist Association that started up associational sports. He then coached the girls softball and the boys basketball teams at Greenbrier First Baptist Church for the Associational League. Mr.

Meadows enjoyed his work in the maintenance department at Nashville Memorial Hospital that later became Skyline Medical Center from where he retired. In 2015, he moved his church membership to Solid Rock Baptist Church in Greenbrier. He was an avid fan of the Greenbrier Bobcats and the Tennessee Vols. He had a great love for camping, and for all that knew him best knows that he had a great love for talking and having conversations with his friends and family. He never met a stranger and had a great love for all his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

floral squareIn addition to his parents, Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his sister: Peggy Ann Stall. In November of this year, he would have been married 60 years to the love of his life, Peggy Ann Moore Meadows, who he leaves to survive him. Mr. Meadows is survived also by his son: Ricky Earl Meadows of Gallatin, grandsons: Caleb and wife Gracie Meadows, Austin and Josh Meadows, great grandchildren: Aiden, Olivia, and Daisy Meadows, brother-in-law: Mack Stall of Goodlettsville, niece: Charlotte Jackson and husband Donnie of Lawrenceville, GA

Mr. Creek was born July 4, 1960 in Robertson County to the late Sherby Creek. He was a painter.

Mr. Creek is survived by his sons, Roger Creek of Central, KY, Rodney Creek of Morgantown, KY, Richard Creek of Hendersonville, and Chris Creek of Greenbrier; daughter, Melissa Creek of Morgantown, KY; brothers, Michael Dine of Kenosha, WI, Richard Dine of Grand Rapids, MI, amd Jimmy Edwards of Springfield; sisters, Karen Dine Banno of Grand Rapids, MI and Peggy Rippy of Grand Rapids, MI; and 5 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Dean Funeral Chapel in Adairville with Bro. Junior England and Bro. Junior Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Richard Hughes, Melvin Baldwin, Merle Wix, Billy Wix, Kenny Dickerson, Brian Rouse, Mark Law, John Mason Barnes, and Jon Keith Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wells, James England, Joe Mason, Glenn Gainous, Sam Halcomb, Don Halcomb and John Halcomb. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 until 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mr. Riggins was born June 13, 1938 in Logan County, KY to the late Jesse and Willie Ann England Riggins. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was the owner of Riggins Saw Mill and was a former Agriculture Pilot. He loved flying, airplanes, and woodworking. He never thought small. He was an American pioneer in crop dusting and was a folklore legend. He was an amazing story teller and never ceased to amaze and surprise. Until the end, he always did it his way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Riggins.

Mr. Barrow was born November 13, 1955 in Springfield to the late Les and Dorothy Barrow. He was a self-employed “Jack of all trades”.

Obituary for Daryl R Pike

Daryl R PikeDaryl Raymond Pike, age 48, of Madison, passed away from head and neck cancer Friday, August 31, 2018 at Alive Hospice, Madison, Tennessee.

He will be cremated and there will be a celebration of Daryl’s life at a later date, to be announced.

Daryl was born April 30, 1970, in Warsaw, New York, to Everett and Alberta Pike. His family moved to Castalian Springs, Tennessee, when Daryl was eight. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1988 and was looking forward to the 30th reunion this month. He loved his school days and classmates and was involved in 4H, theatre and music productions and travelled to England on his senior trip and served seven years with the Appalachian Service Project. He graduated from Western Kentucky State University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of General Studies Degree with an emphasis in Humanities. He worked with youth groups at First Presbyterian Church in Gallatin, Lebanon and Bellevue.

Daryl devoted his life to a career in Social Services as a counselor, trainer, program coordinator, writer and developer for Centerstone, YWCA, Domestic Violence Intervention Center, Suicide Prevention Trainer for Tennessee Mental Health Association/Tennessee Lives Count, Time for Change Community Services, and Insurance Specialist for Nashville CARES. He served on the board for ACT 1 Theatre for more than 10 years and worked with ACT 1, Circle Players, and other local theatre companies as stage manager, assistant director, director, and sometimes actor for many productions.

Daryl loved to garden and travel and spend time with his cats. He is now most likely in charge of treats at the Rainbow Bridge, where he is reunited with Fluffer, Elizabeth, Jazz, Gigi, Max, and Buddy Threadgoode. He also leaves behind Prof. Minerva McGonagall, his devoted kitty. He was an avid Star Trek, Star Wars and Harry Potter fan and could quote word-for-word every episode of The Golden Girls.

Daryl was preceded in death by his father Everett Pike and brother Gary Pike. Survived by his devoted husband Danny Proctor (Madison), mother Alberta Love Pike of Castalian Springs, sisters Kathleen Seighman of Goodlettsville, Beverly Daniel (Darnell) of Castalian Springs, Denice Irwin of Chicago, Laurie Irwin of San Diego, Sharon Waite of West Palm Beach, Florida, Karen Hall of Nunda, New York, Laura Lee (Glenn) Spearman of Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, and half-brother Everett Pike (Hanna) of Pavilion, New Yorklllk; 20 nieces, nephews, and dozens of floral squaregreat-nieces and nephews; hundreds of loyal friends, co-workers, and his beloved theatre family.

Arrangements handled by Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to Nashville CARES and Gilda’s Club of Nashville. A Closing Night Cast Party will be held at a later date where Daryl’s brilliant life will be celebrated.

Mr. Brown was born October 23, 1954 in Munich, Germany to the late Raymond and Marie Dunn Brown, Sr. He was a self-employed Repair Technician and veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Schulte was born on November 30, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to the late James H. and Irene A. Carbary Schulte. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, was a retired Engineer at General Motors and a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Schulte; brother, Donald; sisters, Gloria and Annie; and step-son Jeff Damer.

Charles Frederick "Rick" RichardsCharles Frederick “Rick” Richards, age 69 of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, August 29.

Rick was a hard-working Christian man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. After working in the machine industry since 1970, he retired from the Nashville Machine Company as General Manager. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1966-1969 on a river patrol boat in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wilma; his children, Chuck and Chad Richards, Elizabeth (Keith) Woodard, and Matthew (Lita) Belcher; grandchildren, Canon, Kellan, Dylan and Kensi Richards, Andrew and Christopher Woodard, and Eli and Isla Belcher; and sister, Debra Wicke. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laverne; and a sister, Linda Richards.

Burial followed in the Good Springs Cemetery in Pleasant View, TN with Ronnie Clinard, Mark Butler, Will Bradshaw, Keith Morgan, Justin Short and John Wallace serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Crabtree, Eddie Drake, Richard Cox, J.P. Bennett, Wayne Dube, Charles Beams, Terry Farmer, Jim Ward, and the employees of Wheeler, Inc.

Mr. Wheeler was born on September 7, 1945 in Garland, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Ida Parker Wheeler. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the U.S.S. Oklahoma City, he owned and operated Wheeler, Inc. and was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

“One Time Dave” (his self-titled nickname) was a people person. A man of great success from humble beginnings, he counted his family as his greatest accomplishment. He loved a deal. Everything in his world was for sale, everything in others world could be bought or even better, both could be traded. His distinction was his desire that each deal help others achieve their dreams. “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” Proverbs 3:27.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Mabel, Ruth and Fay; and brothers, Russ, Art and Earl.

A Graveside Service was held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 2pm in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery with Sister Charlene Sullivan officiating. Burial followed with family and friends serving as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the Graveside Service.

Mr. Head was born November 11, 1926 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Raymond and Lorene Powell Head. He was a farmer and true friend to many people.

William NewcombWilliam David Newcomb, age 54, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A Graveside Service was held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 3pm in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Brother Ray Mayo officiating. Burial followed with Thomas Newcomb, Tommy Crumpton, Louis Crumpton, Brett Bauer, Austin Barnett, Kenny Ayers and A.J. Foley serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Saturday from 11am until 2:30pm.

Mr. Newcomb was born October 12, 1963 in Nashville to the late Henry and Theresa Ann Bruckert Newcomb. He worked as a book binder at Bindtech.

floral squareMr. Newcomb is survived by his wife, Debra Sutton Newcomb; son, Thomas (Louise) Newcomb of Mansfield, OH; daughters, Tiffany (Brett) Bauer of Mansfield, OH and Kimberly Newcomb of Nashville; brothers, Paul Newcomb of Nashville and Henry Newcomb of Belfast, TN; sisters, Nancy (Leslie) Williams and Anna Marie Newcomb, both of Nashville; and grandchildren, Kailie Autumn Bauer, Kyelei Bauer and Piper Rose Newcomb.

Obituary for Lois Jones

Lois JonesLois Ann Jones, age 76, of Cedar Hill, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at her home.

A Graveside Service was held in the Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10am with Pastors Donna and Bill Pfeffer officiating. Entombment followed. Serving as pallbearers were Joseph McQuiston, Jacob McQuiston, Jarett McQuiston, Alex Rodriguez, Joe McQuiston and Josh Burnette. Honorary pallbearers are Jr. Cathey and Nicolas Saldierna.

Visitation was held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday from 9-9:30am.

Mrs. Jones was born September 29, 1941 in Adams, TN to the late James and Sally Pulley Jones. She was a custodian at Jo Byrns School and was a member of the Adams United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ray Jones, sons, Bobby Jones, Jr. and Jamie Jones, her brother, Jimmy Jones and her sisters, Faye Dowlen and Baby Gean Jones.

Obituary for Albert Joseph Sheffield Jr

Albert Joseph Sheffield JrAge 87 of White House passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Skyline Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1931 in Nashville, TN to Albert Joseph and Ethel Brown Sheffield, Sr. He worked as a data processing department manager for Review & Herald Publishing Association before his retirement. Prior to working in the publishing world, he was a dairyman and builder. He was a member of White House Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served as a deacon and as an elder. He was also a staff member in the Pathfinder Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Sherri Kaye Sheffield; brother, James David Sheffield. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille Sheffield; daughters, Donna Jo (Chris) Miller, both of White House, TN and Sandra Joy (Lynn) Hughes, Greenbrier, TN; 6 grandchildren, Eric, Scott, Melissa, Travis, Brian and Kevin; 4 great-grandchildren, Emily, Luke, Elise and Brielle.

floral squareFuneral service was held  Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 7pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Interment followed on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10:30am in White House Memorial Gardens with grandsons, Chad, Eric, Scott, Travis, Kevin and Brian serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Tuesday 4-7pm at the funeral home.
