SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – After about two months of uncertainty it looks like we finally have an answer on the disposition of Applebee’s in Springfield.

According to Jim Moore of G.S Moore & Son’s, the owner of the property, his firm received a letter from the franchise in the mail today confirming what many have suspected, Springfield Applebee’s has no plans to reopen.

Moore said that does not preclude Applebee’s corporate from stepping in and reopening the store but, for now, the Springfield Applebee’s is closed.

The business is located at 3534 Tom Austin Hwy across from Pizza Hut. MAP The listing still appears on Google Maps but under hours of operation it says “Permanently closed.”

Concern started back in June when a note appeared on the door at Applebee’s that indicated that the business was closed temporarily due to maintenance issues but, as the weeks progressed, fans of the business began to wonder if the store would ever reopen.

The Springfield Applebee’s location first opened its doors back in 2002 and was a popular spot.  Do you have a special memory at the Springfield Applebee’s that you would like to share with Smokey Barn News, post it in comments below.

What kind of a business would you like to see go in the spot?
