Jo Byrns Marching Band participated in three competitions this year and won 1st place in all three. On Saturday October 10, 2015 they competed in Chapel Hill Tennessee where they won the Middle TN Small Band Championship.

This has never been done in the school history to my knowledge in the 65 year history of Jo Byrns. In one competition this year, out of 26 bands, Jo Byrns was unanimously voted  the most entertaining band of that competition. So with a small 24 peice band, we are really getting on the map and I am really proud of the kids. They do a wonderful job and work so hard, I get great support from the parents. I think Jo Byrns is on their way….

We have had trouble recruiting through the elementary school. It’s primarily a football school but the band is bringing home 1st place trophies in competitions against great bands across middle Tennessee, even through West Tennessee. It’s really a progressive program right now and I’m so very proud of everything the band tries to do, they’re great kids,” said Band Director Randall Lynch.
