Joshua McKissick Of Springfield Shot Multiple Times Monday

Around 6:00am Monday morning Josh McKissick, 33, of Springfield, arrived at NorthCrest Medical Center with as many as ten bullets in him, according to Springfield Police Chief David Thompson.

McKissick was brought to Northcrest by a private vehicle, according to a police report obtained by Smokey Barn News.

According to Thompson, McKissick was conscious and talking when he arrived at NorthCrest but decided not to talk to police about what happened. Police don’t know the location of the shooting or even what time he was shot for sure. McKissick was LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center and as of 1:00pm was listed in critical condition.

According to Chief Thompson, today’s shooting may have been retaliatory. McKissick himself is just weeks away from facing trial for attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of Reanio Ogburn, also originally from Springfield. Ogburn was hit by at least one round but did survive. That shooting occurred in May of 2013 at the intersection of Industrial Drive and Memorial Blvd in Springfield.

According to Springfield Police, they do have persons of interests in this case but it is an active ongoing investigation. Police say McKissick was being held on a $250,000 bond until July 18th when Circuit Court Judge John Gasaway reduced the bond amount to $120,000 at which point McKissick was able to make bond.

McKissick is also the father of Robertson County’s first baby of 2014, a boy, delivered at 1:24 p.m. January 1.

If you have any information on this shooting please contact Springfield Police at 615-384-8422 or crime stoppers at 615-382-3799. All information is anonymous and crime stoppers will pay for information that leads to an arrest.

Smokey thoughts and prayers are with McKissick family in hopes for a speedy recovery.
