Loud Explosions Heard During Building Fire In Greeenbrier

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A storage building in Greenbrier is a total loss after a fire that started around 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Firefighters from across the county responded to the blaze including crews from White House Community Station 51, Cross Plains, Greenbrier, Ridgetop and Millersville.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion followed shortly by a second explosion just before seeing the fire. There were several propane tanks in or near the structure that were the likely cause of the explosions, according to Greenbrier Fire Chief Kyle Hamill. The structure is situated about 300 feet off the roadway near the intersection of Hall Rd and South Mt Pleasant Rd. MAP Firefighters had a
difficult time gaining access to the building and made attempts to reach it from several sides.

As you can see in our photos, all the firefighters worked together as a team to put out the fire that had the potential to destroy a wooded area and other structures including two homes that were connected by trees.

No injuries (including firefighters) were reported in the fire and the cause is still under investigation, Chief Hamill said. Smokey Barn News did speak to the resident of the property who was not home at the time of the fire, he indicated that he was saddened by the loss of his building but glad no one was injured.

The building contained miscellaneous equipment, according to the resident. In addition to the structure, several vehicles and at least one trailer were lost in the fire.

Responding with the firefighters were the Robertson County Emergency management Agency, Robertson County EMS as well as the Robertson County Sheriff’s office.

As more information becomes available from officials after they complete their investigation we will bring it to you.
