Mark Dean Of Dean Oil Dies In Tragic Auto Accident

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A tragic auto accident has taken the life of Mark Dean. 61, of Springfield, son of “C.W.” Dean, Jr. the Founder Of Dean Oil.

The accident occurred around 8am Friday morning on US 431 just outside Adairville Kentucky.

The Logan County Sheriffs Office responded to the crash and are leading the investigation.  But according to a police report obtained by Smokey Barn News, Dean, driving a 1996 Lexus, was traveling North on 431 in a curve on when his vehicle began to slide sideways on wet pavement.

At that same time, a tractor trailer was heading Southbound on 431 (in the opposite direction) and the two vehicles collided nearly head-on.  The passengers side of Dean’s vehicle took the brunt of the crash.

A witness traveling southbound in front of the tractor trailer told police that Dean’s Lexus almost hit her vehicle before striking the truck sideways, the report said. Dean did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mark Dean is the son of  “C.W.” Dean, Jr. the Founder Of Dean Oil who died just two years ago. Along with his wife, Betty Perdue Dean, “C.W.” Dean founded the Dean Oil Company in 1959.

“C.W.” Dean and his wife Betty worked side by side, and their five sons worked in the family business as they grew up. In 1986, Mr. Dean turned the operation of Dean Oil Company over to his sons, and he and Betty founded the Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield that same year. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County EMS and the Adairville Fire Department all responded to the crash.

Memorial services for Mr. Dean will be held at 10 am on Wednesday August 2, 2017 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 pm and again on Wednesday beginning at 9 am until service time at 10 am.

According to his on-line obituary, Mark was born September 2, 1955 in Springfield, he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a Vice President of Dean Oil Co. He was also a shareholder in both of his family’s businesses, Dean Oil Company and Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mark loved reading, music, card collecting, picking his guitar and he was always up for a good debate. He is survived by brothers, Clyde (Scotty) Dean of Springfield, David Dean of Springfield, Henry (Gay) Dean of Greenbrier and Bruce Dean of Springfield.
