Orlinda/Cross Plains Firefighters Save Home And Pet Ferrets
ORLINDA TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Just after 2:30pm Friday afternoon an Orlinda area family called 911 after their home caught fire. The fire started in the basement so everyone made it out safely but four pets were still trapped in the home, one upstairs and three in the basement.
The home, located on North Pinson Rd, resides on the upper edge of Robertson County near the Kentucky border in the Orlinda Fire Department’s coverage area. (MAP) Cross Plains Fire was called for additional support.
Firefighters from Orlinda and Cross Plains arrived quickly and contained the fire to the basement. The family had broken a screen to save one of the dogs through a window and a cat ran out as soon as firefighters made their way inside the home to put out the fire but two Ferrets were still trapped inside the basement.
Firefighters were able to locate the Ferrets and take them to safety. The Ferrets were examined by Robertson County EMS, both were soaked and shaken up a little but in fair shape. One of the Ferrets needed a little oxygen provided by EMS which seemed to do the trick, though the Ferret wasn’t too fond of the oxygen mask.
Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, the Orlinda Fire Department, Cross Plains Fire and Robertson County EMS all responded to the scene.
This is the second great save within just the last 24 hours for our local firefighters. Last night a family came home to find a bedroom in their duplex engulfed in flames. Springfield Firefighters arrived quickly and kept the fire contained to the one room saving the rest of the home, its contents and an the adjacent home. MORE
