Rain Changing To Light Snow Tonight – Sunday’s High Below Freezing

SEE UPDATES BELOW

MIDDLE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Middle Tennessee’s first snowfall of 2016 is expected to hit tonight. As light to moderate rains move through the mid-state tonight… Cold air is expected to close in quickly. This will cause the rain to change over to snow leaving many spots in middle Tennessee with their first snowfall accumulations of the year.

Robertson County and the northern half of Middle Tennessee will likely see a dusting to 1/4 inch Tea table 300 adof  accumulation particularly north of I-40 starting around 1:00 am through Sunday morning while counties in the northwest including Clarksville could see up to 1 inch of accumulation.

This burst of cold air may cause some isolated travel concerns as temperatures fall into the upper 20’s by daybreak on Sunday.

Elevated surfaces along with bridges and overpasses could become slick for several hours Sunday morning.

While daytime highs on Sunday are expected to remain below freezing… Sunshine is expected by early Sunday afternoon and this should alleviate any slick surfaces.

UPDATE: Weather experts are raising their estimates of snowfall, now saying that we could receive as much as an inch or more in Robertson County this evening and into the morning. Snowfall may be higher near the Kentucky/Tennessee border.
