Robertson County Remembers Fallen Officers

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Beginning in 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week as National Police Week. Since then dedications take place across the nation to honor and memorialize law enforcement
officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

A Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony was held at the Robertson County Courthouse on Monday, May 11 at noon to honor those from Robertson County agencies that have fallen in the line of duty and those across the nation.

In 2014, there were 127 line of duty deaths of law enforcement officers in the United States. There have already been 42 “It is important to remember the sacrifices that these officers made by paying the ultimate price,” said Sheriff Bill Holt. “We must never forget the dangers law enforcement officers face each and every day.”
