Robertson Crash On I-65 Takes One Life Tuesday

PORTLAND TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – One person has lost their life in an I65 tractor trailer crash near Portland Tuesday afternoon.

According to Orlinda Fire Chief Dusty Johnson, the single-vehicle crash occurred just past exit 17 around 1 pm on the Northbound side of the interstate. (Location of crash) The vehicle left the roadway and impacted a wooded area. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Interstate is open but moving slowly while crews remove the vehicle. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

As far as a cause of the crash or the identity of the driver, the THP has not released that information.

According to deputy Director Chance Holmes with the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, it will likely be several more hours before the crash is cleared.

The Orlinda Fire department, Cross Plains Fire, Robertson County EMS, the Emergency Management Agency and the THP all responded to the crash.
