Severe Storms Predicted For Monday Afternoon

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The US National Weather Service Nashville Tennessee is tracking severe storms headed to Middle Tennessee for Monday afternoon.

These storms carry the potential for large hail, damaging straight-line winds, and tornadoes that will push east through the afternoon and evening hours.

This includes during school dismissal and evening rush hour. Make sure to have a way to get warnings while commuting and review your safety plan at work or school.

UPDATE 9:45PM Sunday evening  from the Robertson County Schools:

We are actively following the weather situation. A call will go out if an early or late dismissal happens due to the timing and severity of the storms.

The windows of storm timing are predicted in the graphic below but may change as we get closer to the event.

Severe storms may hit Middle Tennessee right during evening rush hour tonight. Traffic around Nashville is already bad enough, don’t make it even worse by parking under an overpass and blocking traffic. Overpasses are not a safe place to take shelter. If a tornado warning is issued it’s best to find a sturdy building to take shelter. Or better yet, avoid being on the highways altogether when the storms are forecast to hit.

Forecast for the rest of the week:

Temperatures will be a bit cooler Tuesday with a few scattered showers. On Wednesday morning we may see a few sprinkles and possible light snow showers on the plateau with more rain heading in on Friday.
