Sheriff Nets Gun/Drugs Responding To Burglary Call Near Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Wednesday afternoon the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on Hwy 161 just outside Springfield. In route, deputies received a vehicle description and a tag number of the suspect’s vehicle.

As Deputies approached the home a vehicle matching the description was observed heading towards Springfield. A traffic stop and search of the vehicle was made. Deputies found burglary tools, suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, several non-prescribed pills, and Schedule 1 acid.

A semi-automatic .22 caliber pistol was later found on the side of HWY 161 near the traffic stop. MAP The handgun turned out to belong to the victim of the home burglarized. The gun owner noticed the weapon on the side of Hwy 161 about half a mile from the traffic stop and deputies recovered it.

Robert Janke, 35, of Hendersonville, and Chase Sherman, 22, of Pleasant View were taken into custody and are currently being booked at the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield.

Janke will be facing, Aggravated Burglary, Possession burglary tools, Simple possession Sch. II, IV, V, VI, Possession Sch. legend drugs without a prescription, Possession drug paraphernalia and Unlawful possession firearm. His bond has been set at $89,500.00.

Sherman will be charged with Aggravated Burglary, Possession burglary tools, Possession Sch. 1 resale, and Unlawful possession firearm.  His bond has been set at $45,000.00.
