Spankings Are Out For Robertson County Schools

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials with Robertson County Schools, the district has revised its corporal punishment (spanking) policy to now prohibit the use of corporal punishment as a disciplinary measure in all Robertson County public schools.

The new policy reads:

“Corporal punishment shall not be used as a disciplinary measure in any school.

“The Director of Schools shall be responsible for developing and implementing in-service training programs for teachers and staff in the use of alternative, positive measures of discipline.”

The policy change reflects both a trend in many states to eliminate corporal punishment and the restrictions recently placed on the practice by the Tennessee State Legislature. The new policy goes into effect immediately, the district said.
