Sports Car Totaled After Impacting Funeral Home Tree (Driver OK)

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A sports car was totaled after the driver lost control and impacted a tree on Memorial Blvd Saturday evening.

The accident occurred around 11 pm at the intersection of Memorial Blvd and Golf Club Lane. The tree sits on the property of the Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield. MAP After hitting the curb and a small embankment, the vehicle went momentarily airborne before hitting the tree.

Fortunately, the driver was not seriously injured and refused treatment, his sports cars, however, did not fare so well. The impact was severe and sent parts from the vehicle traveling some 70 feet from the crash site. If not for the tree, the vehicle would likely have found its way into the funeral home. A Millersville Officer just happened to be passing by moments after the crash and called for fire and medical.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Springfield Police Department are handling the investigation. According to officials at the scene, a cause of the crash was not immediately available however the driver was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI and transported to the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield.
