Springfield Alderman Bruce Head Steps Down

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Springfield Alderman Bruce Head of Ward 5 has officially stepped down from the board, retiring from his position with the city after serving for over twenty-five years.

“I just think its time for new ideas to come to the board,” Bruce Head told Smokey Barn News Friday afternoon at his Memorial Blvd based Stewart Williams Furniture store.  “I thank the voters of ward five for allowing me to serve them for over twenty-five years. Just felt like it was time for a change.”

Bruce Head officially informed the board of his decision to step down on Thursday. “Springfield’s a great place, I’ve lived here all my life. I love the people, I love the community, I’m just happy to have served.

“We have a great City Manager now, I really appreciate the job that she and her staff have done and we’ve got a good board. They work well together and I think we’re getting some things done. I think great things are to come.”

“It has been a pleasure to serve with Mr. Head. I would like to thank him for 25 years of dedication to the City Of Springfield,” said Springfield Mayor Ann Schneider.

The board will now face the task of replacing Head until the next election cycle.
