Springfield Area Family Displaced By Fire Early Thursday

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield area home suffered about 30% damage in a fire that started around 4am Thursday.

No injuries were reported. The home is located on West Smith Rd near Betts Rd. MAP

According to District Chief, Mike Bauer with the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, the family was home at the time of the fire.  After calling 911, a resident was able to get water on the fire with a garden hose before crews arrived. When crews entered the home the floor began to collapse so firefighters had to change their attack.

The White House Community Volunteer Fire Department and Greenbrier Fire as well as the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and Robertson County EMS responded to the call.

According Bauer, the main area of damage to the home is the kitchen and living room.

As far as a cause, it’s too early in the investigation but Chief Bauer did say that the fire did seem to be centered around an electrical box.

Officials have put the family in contact with the American Red Cross.
