Springfield High Assistant Principal Sings For Snow Day

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Larry Staggs, an Assistant Principal at Springfield High School, has a viral video on his hands after he uploaded a video of himself singing about getting another show day.

With some clever rewording, Staggs sang the song  “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. See the video below. We have posted the original song by the Backstreet Boys below Mr. Staggs performance so you can compare the two.

In the song, Staggs says “I want a snow day but we’re a-waiting, that call giving good news” and getting more time off to “play.”

At one point in the song, Staggs makes reference to his wife who was apparently ready for him to go back to work. “Six days of no distance has gotten to her.”

By the reaction from the community, Staggs hit a home run with his weather rendition.

At last count, Assistant Principal Staggs had over 19,000 views and over 300 shares. Staggs got his wish, the video was posted on Tuesday and Wednesday was a snow day in Robertson County.

Smokey Barn News reached out to school officials in Robertson County to see if the video played any part in school closings this week.

“We truly appreciate the talent of Mr. Staggs and were able to take his plea into consideration. However, we are now looking forward to spring and would welcome a follow-up song saying so.” Director of Robertson County Schools Chris Causey.
