SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield man has been charged with raping a 5-year-old child following an investigation that led to a confession. The details of the confession, too graphic to print.

Daniel L Sanford, 32, of Springfield has been charged with Rape-Of-A-Child, Springfield Police made the arrest on New Year’s Eve.

According to an affidavit obtained by Smokey Barn News, during a controlled call with the child’s mother, Sanford admitted that (on more than one occasion, that occurred on or about December 21st) a rape occurred and a video recording on his cell phone was made. During the conversation, the mother asked, “What were you thinking?” – Sanford replied, “That’s the problem, I wasn’t thinking,” the affidavit states. Sanford went on to say that he did not show the video to anyone else and he deleted it from his phone.

After reading Sanford his Miranda Rights police conducted a recorded interview. During the interview, Sanford revealed specific and very graphic details about his physical interaction with the 5-year-old that he admitted occurred on more than one occasion at Sanford’s apartment in Springfield.

Sanford was transported to the Robertson County Detention facility in Springfield where he is being held on a $500,000 bond. Sanford will appear in General Sessions Court on January 8.
