Springfield Man Hospitalized After Being Pistol-Whipped

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to police, a Springfield man is at NorthCrest Medical Center this evening after being pistol-whipped following an argument at the Stop One Market in Springfield.

Initially police thought that the man had been shot because the gun discharged but police say, fortunately, no one was struck by the round. The initial call came into 911 at 10:37pm Thursday evening.

wwwwwPolice say that after the argument at the Stop One Market on N. Main St., somehow the two men made their way over to Travis Lane in the Sleepy Hollow subdivision MAP where the victim was pistol-whipped and the gun discharged. Police told Smokey Barn News that the discharge of the weapon may have been accidental.

Springfield Police searched the area using flashlights to try to find shell casings, and some evidence was collected at the scene as you can see in our video report.

Police said the victim has an injury to his head and was transported to NorthCrest Medical Center but is expected to recover.

According to an official release from Springfield Police Friday morning, officers were dispatched to 2300 block of Main Street in reference to a gun shot in the area. Moments later a second call came in from several blocks away that a male subject was shot on Travis Lane near Sleepy Hollow.

When officers arrived they found the victim with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the back of his head. EMS arrived and stabilized the victim then transported him to Northcrest Medical Center. Once at Northcrest it was determined the subject had not been shot but had been hit with the weapon in the back of the head causing significant injury.

Wholesale inc nashville 300The weapon had fired during the altercation causing the victim to believe he had been shot. During the investigation, Everritt Washington of Springfield was developed as a possible suspect in the assault.

Police say a second victim was also assaulted with the firearm in the Sleepy Hollow subdivision.

Warrants for Aggravated Assault were taken out on Everritt Washington.
