Springfield Man Killed Wednesday: Suspect In Custody

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  Wednesday morning around 3:45 am, Deputies with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Stevenson Lane in Springfield. MAP after a 911 call was placed in regards to someone being shot.

As Deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim, Stanley D. Garrett, 56, of Springfield laying in the roadway in front of a residence.

Deputies discovered Stanley sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper chest area and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders from the Robertson County Emergency Medical Service.

During the investigation, Deputies and Investigators learned that 64-year-old Roy Edward Grant, also of Springfield, was allegedly responsible for the shooting death of Stanley D. Garrett. Grant was arrested and taken to the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield without incident.

Grant has been charged with Criminal Homicide and is being held without bond.
