Springfield Police Department Promotes Five (Full Story)

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Springfield Police Department has announced the following recent promotions following last weeks announcement that two top personal in the department were retiring..

Jason Head was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and will serve as the department’s Patrol Division and Swat Team Commander.

Lt. Head has been in Law Enforcement for 20 years and holds a Masters Degree in
Criminal Justice from Bethel University. Lt. Head’s law enforcement career began with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, and he has worked with Clarksville Recovery Strategies 300 bPolice Department, and the United Nations Police Force. He joined the Springfield Police Department in August of 2006. Lt. Head’s last assignment was a Sergeant serving as a shift supervisor.

Joe Macleod has been assigned as an acting Patrol Sergeant to supervise a patrol shift while the Sergeant is on medical leave. Cpl. Macleod has been in law enforcement for 25 years and began his career with the Springfield Police department in 1991. Cpl. Macleod is experienced in directing and leading police personnel to meet law enforcement objectives. He also has experience in conducting investigations and diffusing potentially volatile situations with tact and diplomacy. Cpl. Macleod has served as a Patrol Officer, K-9 Handler, Bike Patrol Unit Supervisor, and Narcotics Investigator assigned to the 19th Judicial drug Task Force serving Robertson and Montgomery Counties. Cpl. Macleod was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 1997.

Andrew Cobb was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and will serve as a patrol shift supervisor. Sgt. Cobb joined the Springfield Police Department in May of 2009 and has served as a Patrol Officer, Bike Unit Officer and a shift Corporal. Sgt. Cobb is a member of the department’s SWAT Team and serves as the Sniper. He also serves as a Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor and a member of the Traffic Unit. Sgt. Cobb completed basic and advanced traffic accident investigation courses and has his Traffic Accident Reconstruction Certification.

Steve Berry was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and will serve as a patrol shift supervisor. Sgt. Berry joined the Springfield Police Department in January of 2006 and has served as a Patrol Officer and a shift Corporal. Sgt. Berry also serves as an Ken Duley Health Market April 1 - 14 2016advisor for the Police Explorer Post Program, Field Training Officer, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor and Radar Lidar Instructor. Sgt. Berry began his career in law enforcement with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department.

Charles Consiglio was promoted to the rank of Detective. Detective Consiglio joined the Springfield Police Department in 2008 in the patrol division. He was later assigned to the department’s Narcotics/Drug division as an Investigator. Detective Consiglio is an Instructor for the department on gang activity, and he is also responsible for gathering gang intelligence and classification of gang members. Detective Consiglio was recognized in 2014 by the Tennessee Gang Investigators Association as statewide Gang Investigator of the year. FULL STORY Detective Consiglio developed the department’s tracking system and gang database and also works with State and Federal agencies in the fight against gang and narcotic related crimes.

According to a release from Springfield Police, These promotions and position assignments, in addition to filling retirement vacancies on the department’s leadership team, are part of the strategic restructing, which was recently implemented by the department.
