“Suspicious” Springfield Area House Fire Critically Injures One
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield area house fire that officials are calling “suspicious” sent one person to the hospital in critical condition early Thursday morning.
The home sits outside Springfield city limits on Cave Springs Rd near Tom Austin Hwy. MAP The call for the fire went out at 12:38 am Thursday morning.
Officials tell Smokey Barn News that a 49-year-old female sustained critical injuries in the fire and was transferred to NorthCrest Medical and then LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Fire Chief PJ Duncan with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office both confirmed that the fire is under investigation. Chief Duncan added that the investigation may get turned over to the TBI.
Officials are still trying to determine if anyone else was still inside the structure, a search for human remains is still ongoing. The structure has been classified as a total loss.
Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Greenbrier Fire, the White House Comunity Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgetop Fire, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.
UPDATE: The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office has released the following statement regarding the fire.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was a result of the female resident (allegedly) setting fire to her boyfriend’s belongings after a dispute and unintentionally causing the fire to the home, and herself. No other individuals were in the home during the fire. The female is still in critical condition. This case is still under investigation.”
