TBI Theft Case Yields Arrest of Springfield Man

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, special agents from the TBI have obtained an indictment for a Springfield man in connection to the theft of more than a quarter of a million dollars from his former employer.

At the request of 23rd District Attorney General Ray Crouch, TBI Agents began investigating David Kent Vaughn, 49 of Springfield, on November 14th. The indictment alleges that during the course of the investigation, agents developed information that, from approximately February 2016 through October 2017, while working as an employee of R.E. West Transportation Company in Ashland City, Vaughn stole funds by using company credit cards for unapproved purchases and writing electronic checks for cash under false pretenses.

On March 6th, the Cheatham County Grand Jury returned an indictment, charging Vaughn with one count of Theft over $250,000. Today, agents arrested him and booked him into the Cheatham County Jail on $76,000 bond.
