ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The national weather service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 9 pm CST this evening for 22 counties in middle Tennessee including Robertson County.

A wind advisory remains in effect until 9 pm CST this evening. Timing: Until 9 pm this evening. Sustained southerly winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.  Gusty winds may cause tree damage and scattered power outages. Loose outdoor objects may be blown around. High profile vehicles may experience travel difficulties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions… A wind advisory means that winds over 40 mph are expected. Winds this strong may blow down a few trees or tree limbs and cause isolated power outages.

Driving may also become difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Most of the remainder of Middle Tennessee remains under a slight risk. The most active time for severe storms will be during the afternoon and early evening.

Temperatures will warm considerably as a warm front pushes northward across the mid-state, with winds increasing during the afternoon ahead of tonight’s cold front. This will result in greater atmospheric instability and strong low-level wind shear.

The primary threat with this event remains damaging straight-line winds. Isolated tornadoes are possible, especially in areas west of I-65.

Brief flash flooding may occur with the stronger storms, and a few storms may even produce large hail.
