Two More Armed Robberies In Springfield

According to a Springfield police report obtained by Smokey Barn News, on Tuesday July-22 two (citizen) alleged robberies occurred within less than an hour, and about a mile apart. (See map distance)

Payne Chevy lease 300 aug adAt 8:52 P.M. a robbery occurred in the 1800 block of Woodland St. The victim (a male) stated that he was approached by 3 black males and one Hispanic male who brandished weapons and demanded money from him. The subjects took $10 and a cell phone from the victim and struck him in the mouth with a gun. The subjects left in a blue or grey Ford Expedition. According to the victim, the Hispanic suspect was driving the vehicle.

Then at 9:35 P.M. another (male) victim reported that he was assaulted by a black male with a gun after the subject attempted to take money from him. The victim stated that a vehicle pulled up to his residence in the 400 block of Circle Dr. and he saw a black male and a white male get out of the vehicle. The subjects demanded money and the black male pointed a gun at him while he was searched by the white male. When the suspects found that he had no money, the black male struck the victim with the gun and they left in a vehicle fitting the description of the vehicle used in the robbery on Woodland St.

These are very similar to several robberies that took place back  in early June (see links below) and though Springfield police have made at least one arrest, apparently there are more suspects to round up.

According to Springfield Police Chief David Thompson, “These individuals are dangerous and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets more seriously injured or shot, we’d like to get them off the streets.” Anyone with any information about these robberies is encouraged to contact Springfield Police at 615-384-8422 or Crime Stoppers at 615-382-3799. All information is anonymous and Crime stoppers will pay up to $1000.00 for information that leads to an arrest.

Please remember that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
