White House TN Goes High-Tech With New App For Citizens
WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –White House Tennessee has gone high-tech with a new city app that will make communication between city officials and citizens a snap, all from your smart-phone or tablet, according to White House Mayor Mike Arnold.
“It will allow you to submit a service request, get an Amber Alert, apply for a burn permit, see public notices, pay sewer bill, see employment opportunities, stay up to date with chamber of commerce events and follow the city on Facebook and twitter,” Arnold said.
Last year White House Mayor Arnold did a little research and decided the city needed an app and presented the idea at the “State of The City Address.” City officials started working on it right away, according to mayor Arnold.
At least part of the idea seems to have been spawn from attending a convention in Las Vegas back in May. “We met people that did just that, make apps,”Arnold said.
The cost of $5000 to build the app was within the budget so Arnold handed the project to City Recorder Kerry Harville and Asst. City Recorder Amanda Rambo. “I said I want an app and they went to work on it and they did an amazing job,” Arnold said.
“I have a smart phone, you have a smart phone, that’s where people are, that technology is in their hands all the time. If we have street issues, pot holes or a stop sign knocked down or anything of that nature, you can pull up the app on your smart phone and it will note your location on google maps and send it instantly to our public works department.
“I can track when they get it, how long it takes them to respond, how long it takes them to get it finished, Arnold said. “Its amazing.”
“Anything you want to report is at your fingertips, wherever you are,” Arnold said. “You can pay your sewer bill from the app or pull up any information from the city website or chamber of commerce. It can be upgraded constantly so you may even be able to pay city taxes in the future.”
“The main purpose of the app is communication, both ways,” Arnold said.
Don’t worry if you’re not tech savvy, the White House Chamber will be releasing a promotional video that will go over the apps features. City employees are learning how to use the app now and the app is free to download.
