7 Hospitalized Including One Infant After Greenbrier Wreck Friday
GREENBRIER TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – Seven people, including three children and one infant, were hospitalized Friday after a two vehicle accident on Hwy 41 in Greenbrier.
The accident (involving a Volkswagen van and a pickup truck) occurred just after 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 41 and Franklin Dr. (Location of wreck)
There were two adults and four children in the van including two females in their late 20’s, 1 toddler and 3 children around the age of 7. There was only one occupant in the pickup truck (the driver) a 19 year old female, according to police.
The drivers of both vehicles listed Greenbrier addresses.
All of the occupants of the van were transported via EMS to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. The driver of the pickup was transported via EMS to NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield Tennessee.
According to Corporal Curtis Scott with the Greenbrier police department, none of the occupants suffered life threatening injuries. “Preliminarily it looks like we may have two broken bones and some cuts and bruises but nothing life threatening,” Corporal Scott said.
As far as a cause of the accident, “Preliminarily it appears that the White Volkswagen van pulled onto Hwy 41 from Franklin Rd in front of the black truck heading South on 41, according to witnesses,” Scott said.
Numerous witnesses told Smokey Barn News that after the accident, good Samaritans came out of nowhere and swarmed the two vehicles. They were all looking to do what they could to help. Several witnesses said they could hear children crying and screaming.
“As I was coming through Greenbrier I saw the overturned vehicle. There were a lot of people trying to help get everyone out. They were doing what they could to calm the children down. There were a lot of good Samaritans doing what they could to help. I sent prayers to all who helped and to the people involved,” Bradyen Chatman said.
This was the third accident on Hwy 41 within a three hour span, the first occurring around 1:00 p.m. and the second at 3:00 p.m., both near the intersection of 41 and Tom Austin Hwy.
At least one person was transported to the hospital in the accident at 1:00 p.m. If you search Smokey’s accident section you will see that today is not the first time that there have been three accidents within a short span on Hwy 41.
Smokey Barn News doesn’t speculate, we just deliver the facts, we’ll let our readers ponder a cause, although we will volunteer the obvious. Hwy 41 is a long stretch of road with speed limits ranging from 40 to 55, it may well just be statistics.
Greenbrier Fire, Robertson County EMS and Greenbrier Police all responded to the accident.
Smokey’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.

Does anyone know who the peoples names are that were in the wreck??
It’s not the roads fault it’s the people driving on them. Put the blame where it belongs.
