Anthony Cuevas Captured In New York
Sumner County officials have confirmed with Smokey Barn News that Anthony Cuevas was taken into custody on Sunday.
Smokey spoke to Major Don Linzy with the Sumner County Sheriff’s office who confirmed that Cuevas was picked up in Manhattan.
According to Linzy, the capture was the result of a police investigation with the help of authorities in New York.
Sumner County will be extraditing Cuevas to face charges and after that Cuevas will face charges in Robertson County.
The search for Anthony Cuevas in Robertson County went on for three days before police received good word that he had left town..
The search for Cuevas in Robertson County began last Monday night after a White House police officer spotted him on I65.
After pursuing Cuevas to an area near Highland Rim Speedway Monday night, Cuevas abandoned his vehicle and the hunt turned into a foot pursuit. Aside from an alleged jaunt on an ATV, Cuevas was on foot throughout the pursuit in Robertson County, according to police.
Police searched businesses, vacant buildings and even barns in an effort to find Cuevas. On Tuesday police spotted Cuevas on an ATV but once again he was able to slip away, the ATV was later recovered.
Most of the search for Cuevas was on foot, however last Tuesday the Tennessee Highway Patrol brought in a helicopter to assist in an aerial search and Metro Nashville Police came in with one of their K-9 units. Springfield Police also brought in a K-9 to assist, so it has been three very long and busy days for law enforcement.
Cuevas is wanted in connection with at least one alleged home burglary in the South Tunnel area on Wallace Lane in addition to two alleged vehicle thefts. He will also be facing charges in Robertson County. According to Robertson County PIO Ryan Martin, Cuevas will be facing two counts of Reckless Endangerment, two counts of Resisting Arrest, one count of Theft, Burglary and driving on a revoked licence.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
