Authorities Scramble After 911 Receives Fake Shooting/Hostage Call

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Authorities in Springfield jumped into high gear early Wednesday after a 911 call that ultimately ended up being just a wild goose chase for first responders.

The call came into 911 at 1:15 am and was paged out as a hostage situation with a shooting victim at an apartment complex off Tom Austin Hwy. The victim/hostage had reportedly been shot in the head, officials said. The Springfield Police Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Springfield Fire Department all responded.

Robertson County EMS and the Springfield Fire Department staged down the street awaiting law enforcement to secure the scene. Springfield Police entered the complex and determined the call was fake. At 1:47 am EMS and Fire were released from the scene.

“Thankfully, no one was found to have been injured in this “false call” situation. EMS returned to service soon thereafter.” Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer.

Springfield Police have a great track record solving cases regarding the misuse of 911 but the time lost by our first responders can not be recovered.
