Boating Alert: Red River Adams Access Area (Important Info)

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The TWRA has released an advisory to boaters wanting to use the Red River Adams access area. The access is open but due to park closures, downstream access to exit the river is extremely limited. The next access point will be Clarksville.

“Since Port Royal State Park is closed, if somebody puts in at the Adams access ramp, there is no public takeout for over 30 miles, until you get to Riverside Drive in Clarksville,” said TWRA Wildlife Officer Kaleb Stratton. “The Tennessee State Park Rangers are asking that we help them by notifying the public that Port Royal State Park is closed and the public cannot take out at the park.”

TWRA boat ramps are still open. If the public is wishing to float the Red River, they can still put in (upstream from Adams) at the Porters Chapel access area and float down to the Adams access area. It will take them about 6 to 8 hours depending on water conditions.
