ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The National Weather Service has issued a Flash flood watch for Robertson County, Tennessee until 10:00 pm this evening.

The national weather service in Nashville has expanded the flash flood watch to include a portion of middle Tennessee, including the following areas, Robertson, Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Coffee, Davidson, Dickson, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury, Perry, Rutherford, Sumner, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, Williamson, and Wilson counties.

Showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall will spread across the area today and this evening. This will occur as a cold front moves into the very humid air in place across Tennessee. Some of the rainfall will be quite heavy, with several inches of rainfall in some spots. Heavy rainfall is expected with 2 to 3 inches possible in some spots. Street flooding will be a hazard for travelers. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as creeks and streams. The rainfall will taper off by late tonight.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
