Former Firefighter’s Home Gutted By Fire Friday

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  Former Fighter and Assistant Fire Chief For the White House Volunteer Fire Department, Rick Overby, came home to find his house in Springfield had been gutted by fire. The home is located on the corner of William Woodard Road and Hwy 431. Crews from around the county battled the fire that officials say is suspicious. The fire was under investigation but as we understand it now the cause of the fire is being blamed on an electrical problem.

UPDATE: 2:49 PM Saturday, March 15, Though the Overby’s were carrying basic insurance on the structure, the fire has hit them hard.  If you would like to help out the Overby’s, donations can be made at Ebenezer Church located at 6028 Ebenezer Road. (MAP) (615) 643-0637

The Overbys lost most if not all their belongings and will be starting over.  The Red Cross has set the Overby’s up at a local hotel, Mr. Overby is not sure where he will be staying after that.
