Middle Tennessee Highland Games Come To Robertson County
A grass roots group is working to bring the Middle Tennessee Highland Games to Robertson County. An organizational meeting is planned for Tuesday, September 23rd, 5:30 pm in downtown Springfield at the First Presbyterian Church located at 200 5th Ave. W.
The Scottish Highland Games are a celebration of all things Celtic / Scottish / Irish. They consist of the Scottish families getting together called clans. Each clan will set up a tent around a field (where the games are held) and inviting visitors to find their Scottish connections.
Many in the group have ties to Robertson County and thought this would be the perfect place to revive the Middle Tennessee Games. They have met with leaders and officials and are excited to take the next step and gather interested folks together and formally organize the games. They would also like to cordially invite all who are interested in helping either with time, talent or sponsorship to come and see where they can contribute.
This first year they will not have judged events but hopefully by next year. They anticipate eventually having 8000 to 10,000 visitors, not this first event but eventually.
If you would like to support the return of the Middle Tennessee Highland Games, make plans to attend the meeting on Tuesday! For more information, please visit the Middle Tennessee Highland Games Facebook page.
