Houseboat Explosion/Fire Forces Couple To Abandon Ship

CLARKSVILLE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Robert and Yvonne Workman decided to take their houseboat “Dream Catcher” on the river for a spin. Shortly after they pulled the boat away from the Clarksville Marina dock the right motor shut down.

As they tried to restart the motor something blew up and a fire started.  Mr. Workman grabbed a fire extinguisher but the fire was too large. The Workmans donned their life vests and safely abandoned ship and watched as the boat became a fireball.  Clarksville Fire Rescue arrived quickly but it was too late for the ship.

The fire occurred around 1230 in the afternoon. The Marina is located at 1190 Cumberland Drive. MAP

The cause of the explosion and the fire remains under investigation. Video and photos were supplied by Lt Lewis, Sgt Ransdell, Officer Matos and Jim Knoll with the Clarksville Police Department.
