ORLINDA TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Wednesday a semi hauling steel and a passenger vehicle collided on Hwy 52 at the 31W intersection. MAP The accident occurred just before noon.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released a preliminary description of the crash.

A 2018 Freightliner Cascadia and a 1998 Buick Century (in front) were traveling east on Highway 52 approaching the intersection of Highway 31W.

One of the witnesses (driving the milk tanker pictured) came to a stop prior to the intersection and the Buick stopped behind him.

The Freightliner coming up from behind the Buick failed to “yield the right of way” and struck the rear of the Buick causing it to rotate and travel off of the right edge of the roadway. The driver of the Freightliner (Freightliner not pictured) was charged with Failure to yield right of way.

The Milk Tanker was not involved in the crash, however, officials tell Smokey Barn News that the tanker did receive some minor cosmetic damage.

The 68-year-old driver of the Buick was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Freightliner was not injured, officials said.
