Obituary for Malcomb “Sonny” Hall Cook

Malcomb "Sonny" Hall CookMalcomb Hall “Sonny” Cook, age 76 of Springfield and formerly of Greenbrier, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Robertson County Funeral Home Tuesday from 11 AM until 12:30 PM.

Mr. Cook was born January 2, 1941 in Robertson County to the late Eddie and Hazel Hall Cook. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and was an floral squareaccountant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Janelle Elliott, Hugh James Cook, and Eddie O’Neil Cook.

He is survived by his niece, Elaine Murphy of Springfield; nephew, Felix Elliott of Wasilla, AK; great nieces, Lisa Jane Stanley and Julie Murphy; great nephew, Justin Murphy; grea-great nieces, Destiny Murphy and Ashley Lau; and great-great nephew, Keon Hardin.

Gary Stevenson ScottOn November 19, 2017 God dispatched an Angel to call home one of his children, Gary Stevenson Scott. Gary was born on January 13, 1959 to the late John Perry and Bertha Lee Johnson Scott. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

He grew up in Springfield, TN and attended Robertson County Public Schools. Gary was a very happy person who loved fishing, cooking, gospel singing, being outdoors. He was a Christian man who attended St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Gary work for Gaylord Opryland as a security guard for 15 plus years.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Pendley and Bro. Harold Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Joe Woodard, Ben Jernigan, John Robert Watts, Thomas Watts, Daniel Sholar, Paul Sholar, Neil Bourne, and Vince Shepard serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hannah Pendley, Lori Edmonds, Center Point Baptist Church Choir and Deacons, Larry Perry, Rosemary and Leroy Collier, and Employees of Robertson County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 until 6 PM and Monday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Mr. Woodard was born February 8, 1961 in Robertson County to Ann Carney Woodard of Springfield and the late Burton Woodard. He was a member of Center Point Baptist Church where he was the Minister of Music for almost 20 years. He loved singing and listening to gospel music. He sang with his brothers who were known as the Woodard Brothers and with Southern Tradition. He also worked at Robertson County Funeral Home in family services. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Candace Carter.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Elaine Bourne Woodard of Springfield; brothers, Terry Woodard and wife Jennifer of Springfield and Mike Woodard and wife Donna of Springfield; sisters, Elaine Mitchuson and husband David of Benton, KY, Diane Bryan and husband Anthony of Springfield, and Martha floral squareWatts of Springfield; father-in-law, John Bourne, Jr. of Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Victoria Lynn ChezemVictoria Lynn Chezem, age 62 of Adams, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Her remains are to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ms. Chezem was born February 22, 1955 in Broward County, FL to Joan Elizabeth Hardcastle Chezem Wix and the late Charles Chezem. She was a member of Red River Baptist Church and was a teacher with the Robertson County Board of Education. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step father who reared her, C.D. Wix.

Maria A MedinaAge 85 of White House, TN passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was born November 1, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas to Ernesto Uriegas and Elvira Huron. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alejandro Medina; son, Peter Alexander Medina and granddaughter, Tammy Garza. She is survived by her sons, Julius (Deborah) Medina, Lapeer, Michigan and Fernando Medina, Cocoa Beach, Florida; daughters, Leslie Ann Medina, White House, TN and Hilda (Dan) Tyler, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; 15 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Ms. Hobbs was born September 9, 1993 in Springfield to Keith Hobbs of Adairville and Maria Lynn Porter Hobbs of Cedar Hill. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Hobbs is preceded in death by her sister, Meagan Hobbs, her grandfather, Charles Porter and her step-father, Jacob Goostree.

Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Lynn Ross, Brad Walker, Jonathan Drake, Wesley Ross, Austin Ross and Taylor Ross serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Tuesday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.

Mr. Ross was born to the late Russell and Olean Reid Ross on October 28, 1929 in Model, TN which is now the Land Between the Lakes. He worked as a truck driver and was a member of Heads Free Will Baptist Church.

Obituary for Robert Allen Jenkins

Robert Allen JenkinsAge 69 of Hendersonville, TN passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1948 in Jacksonville, FL to Wilburn and Jennie Parker Jenkins. He worked as a music producer and songwriter, having many of his songs recorded by country singers David Houston, Lynn Anderson, Hank Williams, Jr, Jack Green and many others. He was a recording artist for MGM and for Capital records and produced many well known artists including Christy Lane. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord with all his heart. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and their friends, and was instrumental in bringing many souls to Christ in his lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Pantone, infant brother, Errol Jenkins and brothers, Gene and Richard Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Lyn Jenkins, Hendersonville, TN; son, Robert Allen (Brandy) Jenkins, Jr., Lebanon, TN; daughters, Christi Jenkins, Nashville, TN and Mandy (Phillip) Atkinson, Cottontown, TN; brother, Ronnie (Elaine) Jenkins and sister, Kathy (David) Levins, both of Sylvester, GA; 6 grandchildren, Kaylee (Drew) Ledford, Emma Atkinson, Parker Atkinson, Joshua Atkinson, Addison Jenkins and Peyton Jenkins; his first great-grandchild is due in March.

Mabel Dowlen Tabb Savage, age 99, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at NHC Healthcare. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Steve Freeman and Brother Bob Carroll officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Trey Tabb, Kevin Tabb, Brett Tabb, Zachary Tabb, Gavin Tabb and Wayne Dowlen serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday from 9am until the hour of service at 10am.

Mrs. Savage was born October 22, 1918 in Pleasant View to the late Bedford Forrest and Jennie Bell Perry Dowlen. She was a machine operator at Wilson Sporting Goods for 26 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Savage is preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin A. Tabb, Sr. and her second husband, Joe W. Savage; brothers, Bill Dowlen, Johnny Dowlen and Otto Dowlen; and her sisters, Dixie Dowlen and Daltha Felts.

Shirley Irene DunaganAge 70 of Springfield passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at The Hearth at Hendersonville. She was born January 7, 1947 in Nashville, TN to Farris H. and Ruby Huber Bibb, Sr. She and her late husband Hubert “Red” Dunagan owned and operated Quality Place Carpets. She was a respected business owner and member of the White House community her entire life. She loved quilting, traveling to Gatlinburg but most of all she loved her family and the time she spent with them. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Farris H. and Ruby Huber Bibb, Sr; husband Hubert “Red” Dunagan; son, William H. Watts; brother, George William Bibb. She is survived by her sons, Randall Dunagan, White House, TN and James E. (Tammie) Watts, Jr., Lebanon, TN; daughter, Sherry (George) Medley, Springfield, TN; brothers, Farris H. (Connie) Bibb, Jr., White House, TN and Eddie King, Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Helen B. (John) Cromartie, White House, TN and Debra K. (Justin) Massie, Nashville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Jessica (Shaun) Mink, Jamie (Jacob) Hipes and James Edward Watts, III; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley I. Mink and Maizy R. Hipes.

Mr. Johnson was born June 16, 1964 in Nashville to the late Joe Johnson and Mrs. Joyce Hill Johnson Krantz of Joelton. He worked as a truck driver, was a school bus driver for Metro Schools and was of the Christian Faith.
