Obituary for Sue Batey
Rachel Sue Batey, age 74 of Springfield, TN died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday November 24th in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Brandon Pinson, Christopher Osborne, Lanny Pinson, Anthony Valentine, John West and Todd Pewitt serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until 12:45 pm.
Sue was a member of the Christian faith having attended several churches. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Springfield Home Care. She was born January 15, 1944 in Robertson Co., TN to the late Curtis Wright Sr. and Gladys Hazel McClain Wright. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Ronnie L. 
Batey, brothers, Michael Wayne Wright, Curtis Wright Jr and Benjamín Wright and sister Joyce Ann Wright. Surviving her are her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Richie Osborne; son and daughter-in-law, Nicky and Donna Pinson, Gina’s best friend and loved as a daughter by Sue, Susie Crawford, grandchildren, Brandon Pinson and Christopher Osborne , great grandchildren, Greyson Osborne, Nadilyn Osborne, Samuel Osborne and Judd Pinson and sister, Emily Wright

Obituary for Joe C. “Jody” Shelton
Joe Crockett “Jody” Shelton, Jr., 54, of Pleasant View, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

Joe Shelton, 54, an employee at a Nissan plant in Smyrna, was driving to work on Interstate 24 in Nashville about 5 a.m. on Tuesday when a slab of concrete police say was thrown from an overpass crashed through his windshield, hit him in the face and killed him instantly. Funeral services were conducted Sunday November 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Sam Peach, Tim Peach, Randy Head, John Howard, Phillip “Shorty” Kennedy, and David Woods serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Jody was born July 12, 1964 in Robertson County. He worked as an IFA Area Manager for Nissan in Smyrna and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Jody loved his job, vehicles, music, antique tractor pulls, and was always tinkering with things or doing building projects. He went to all his son’s high school and college wrestling matches. His two most favorite things were going to Panama City Beach with his family, and spending time with his Pomeranian: Bella. Everything Jody did was for his family and his legacy continues to live in each of their hearts and lives.
Jody is survived by his wife: Kim Murphey Shelton of Pleasant View, his sons and daughter-in-law: Zach and Christina Manis Shelton of Pleasant View, and Jacob Shelton of Pleasant View, his daughter: Morgan (Matt Richardson) Shelton of Pleasant View, his parents: Joe Crockett and Martha Poole Shelton, Sr., of Greenbrier, his brother and sister-in-law: Keith and Anong Shelton of Avon, CT, his sister and brother-in-law: Pam and Gary Atchley of Greenbrier, his in-laws: Jimmy and Faye Murphey of Pleasant View, and his special friend and companion, his Pomeranian, Bella.

Barbara Ann Lindsey Draughon, 83, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 18, 2018.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November 21st at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Hatcher and Reverend Frank Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Draughon was born July 11, 1935 in Maury County to the late Robert Haley and Maurine Kinzer Lindsey. She worked as a secretary over the years and was a member of Wartrace United Methodist Church. Singing gospel music with her family, at church, at funerals, and weddings during her life was her hearts passion. Her greatest loves were her family and her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Draughon was met with open arms of love by her Lord and her family on Sunday when she walked through Heaven’s gates.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Draughon, her brother: Jimmy “Red” Lindsey, her sister: Shirley Coleman, and her niece: Dawn Graham. Mrs. Draughon is survived by her sons: Alan Draughon of Springfield, John Draughon and wife Melanie of Goodlettsville, her grandchildren: John Brandon Draughon and wife Chrissy, and Lanie Draughon, her sisters: Robine Lindsey of Columbia, Linda Byers and husband Luther of Florence, SC, her sister-in-law: Kay Lindsey of Mt. Pleasant, and by many nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Donald Gene Thornton
Donald Gene Thornton, 57, of Cedar Hill, passed away on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November 21st at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Porter Jennings officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Columbia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornton was born June 21, 1961 in Davidson County to the late G.T. and Mattie Lou Chapman Thornton. He worked at the Springfield Police Department for approximately seven years, and then transferred to the Goodlettsville Police Department where he retired from as a Sergeant. Mr. Thornton was the owner and operator of the former Thornton Karate. He enjoyed golfing, his Harley, his GMC, his swimming pool, and his frequent trips to Tunica. His favorite pastime was “relaxing” in his recliner while watching whatever he wanted to on TV.
He is survived by his fiancée: Katrina Bolding of Cedar Hill, his daughters: Kayla Webb and husband David of Nashville, Brittany Thornton and Eddie Carlisle of Oregon, those who were his step-children, but were loved by him as his own: Skye Thornton and wife Nicole of Knoxville, Bentley Thompson of Cedar Hill, Savannah Forrester and husband Toby of White House, and by six grandchildren

Obituary for Billy Gene Hyde
Billy Gene Hyde, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday November 15, 2018 at his home.
Graveside services were conducted Tuesday November 20th at 1:00 p.m. in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brother Joe Rushing officiating. Family served as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Hyde was born January 23, 1948 in Robertson County to the late Malcolm P. and Lucille Frey Hyde. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville over four years and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. Mr. Hyde served in the Army National Guard and he was a former lab technician with Ferro Fiberglass. Mr. Hyde had a great love for Astronomy and enjoyed exploring all of space with his telescope. His second great love was music, especially the Beatles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Joe Henry Hyde.
Mr. Hyde is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry M. and Linda Hyde of Knoxville, MD, Jackie R. and Kaye Hyde of Springfield, and Gracie Hyde of Greenbrier, by his nieces and nephews: Gena White, Jacque Beth Fann, Jenni Teasley, Jill Templeton, Cliff Hyde, Clay Hyde, and Patrick Hyde, and by 14 great nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Kay Clinard
Virginia Kay Clinard, 71, of Cross Plains, passed away Thursday November 15, 2018 at Skyline Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday November 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Milldale Chapel with Pastor Diana DeWitt officiating. Interment followed in the Orlinda Cemetery with Chris Villines, Todd Jones, Cory Jones, Jeff Jones, Richard Forewright, and David Clinard serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Milldale Chapel.
Kay was born October 30, 1947 in Robertson County to the late Clyde and Laura Mae Rainwater Clinard. She was a member of Cross Plains United Methodist Church. Kay loved walking, going to Thomas Drugs, and spending time with her family that she loved dearly. Kay loved everybody and because of the special loved she shared, everyone that knew her loved her in return. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Clifford Clinard, and by her sister: Peggy Murphy.
Kay is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law: Jewell Clinard of Cross Plains, Wayne and Darlene Clinard of Springfield, her sisters and brother-in-law: Joyce Jones of Cross Plains, Betty and Jimmy Villines of Cross Plains, and by a host of nieces and nephews.

Annette “Ann” Tinnin, age 85, of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Cumberland Manor in Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 o’clock pm, Saturday, November 24th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Don Dungan officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham with her family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 12:00PM.
Mrs. Tinnin was born on April 16, 1933 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Herschel and Vola Thompson Vaughn. She was a retired Deli cashier. She was a Christian and was baptized at the age of 16 at the Methodist Church in Scottsboro, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Tinnin; brother, Alton Vaughn; and sisters, Martha Cummins and Eunetta Lee.
She is survived by a son, Mike Cossel; brothers, Glen Vaughn, Dwight Vaughn, and Dale Vaughn; sisters, Lois Dallas, Faye Barnett, Barbara Ricker, and Loretta Thomas; grandchildren, Brandy, Michael (Christie), and Brittney Cossel; and great-grandchildren, Bentley, Brantley, Malia Cossel, and Hailey Hutson.

Obituary for Joanne Marie Holcombe
Age 83 of Goodlettsville passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at her home. She was born March 7, 1935 in Astoria, Oregon to Joseph and Josephine Annabelle Smith Keppro. She worked as an x-ray tech with Tigard Medical Clinic before her retirement. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren more than anything else. She also loved Dee Dee, her dachshund. One of her favorite forms of entertainment was watching Wheel of Fortune and Judge Judy on television.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Alvin Holcombe. She is survived by her daughter, June (Randy) Robertson, Goodlettsville, TN; sons, Layton (Peggy) Holcombe, Smyrna, TN, Gerald (Belinda) Holcombe, Tigard, Oregon and Steven (Beth) Holcombe, Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Joyce Austin, Twisp, WA and Laura Moore, Beaverton, Oregon; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Burial of Mrs. Holcombe’s cremated remains will be held at Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard, Oregon at a later date.
No services are scheduled.

Age 93 of Springfield, formerly of White House, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Goodlettsville. She was born September 25, 1925 in White House, TN to Elisha Dukie and Ollie Howell Wheeler. She worked some as a secretary but her primary job was being a housewife.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Woodrow Crabtree; sisters, Ethel Eidson, Laurie “Duck” Kelly and Minervia Sutton; brothers, Bailey, Jimmie, Hugh and Leyon Wheeler; 3 nieces; 1 nephew. She is survived by her sister, Estelle Webb, White House, TN; nieces, Wanda and Judy.

Age 47 of Cottontown passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Centennial Medical Center. He was born October 19, 1971 in Seymour, IN to David Alan & Sandra Ponder Sutton, Sr. He worked as an electrician.
He is preceded in death by his aunt, Sally Davis. Obituary for Rev. Dr Ronald Eugene Wesley
Age 84 of Goodlettsville went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Alive Hospice Madison Campus. He was born February 28, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH to Jonah and Lacie Wesley. He served as a Pastor and Evangelist for the Nazarene Church. He pastored 20 Nazarene churches from 1958-1996, and served as Evangelist or Interim Pastor at many others from 1996 until he went home to meet Jesus in 2018. He led churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee, and was frequently requested as a guest speaker at international Christian rallies in Kenya, Egypt, and Israel to represent the United States. Ron was an expert in Biblical Prophecy, and both attended and spoke at Prophecy Conferences on a regular basis. He also received many requests from churches to come and preach a series on the book of Revelation. When he wasn’t held up in his office studying scripture and writing sermons, he loved playing golf, reading books about prophecy and traveling to St. Simon’s Island, where he and Gladys searched for sand dollars on the beach and ate at Ron’s favorite restaurant, The Crab Trap. He was a member of Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene, and loved singing in their annual Dixie Jamboree event. In his golden years, Ron fulfilled his lifelong dream of earning a Doctoral degree in Theology. His capstone project was a series of sermons on the humility of Christ. He was a member of Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Viola Wesley; brother, James Wesley. He is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Gladys Wesley, Goodlettsville, TN; son, Rev. Richard Wesley, Clarksville TN; daughters, Karen (Kevan) Smith, Goodlettsville, TN, Linda (David) Cooper, Louisville, KY, Renee (Ken) Mortimer, Goodlettsville, TN and Juanita (Brad) Kissell, Portland, TN; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Obituary for Allen Martin, Jr.
Allen Martin, Jr. went home to be with God on Friday November 16, 2018. Born May 12, 1937 in Uniontown, PA to Allen Martin Sr. and Carrie Martin, Allen graduated from Downey, CA High School in 1952.
He enlisted in the United States Army on May 22, 1957, stationed at Fort Ord in Marina, CA. There he served as an early warning missile technician along with his best friend, Mike Doty.
Allen went to Cal State Fullerton and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Then in Bellflower, CA he met and married Paula Cantrell on May 6, 1961. The two have remained constant companions, friends, and lovers for over 57 years.
A totally devoted family man, Allen was so very proud of all his loved ones. If Allen wasn’t with Paula or other family members he could be found working in his yard or shop. Allen also loved boating, camping, and computers. He was a very respected board member of his church.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 57½ years, Paula; daughter, Lorraine Richter (Eric) of Cumming, GA; daughter, Celeste Charilyn Criss of Hendersonville; son, Kenneth Allen Martin (Ashley) of Kernsville, NC; daughter, April Baird (Dan) of Hendersonville; sister, Jacqueline Denise Smith (Tom) of Cedar Hill, MO; Allen’s grandchildren: Rianne Mueller (Brandon) of Gainesville, GA; Summer Joy Treise (Dustin) of Alexandria, VA; Nathan John Criss of Hendersonville; Daniel Allen Criss (Rebecca) of Watertown, TN; Autumn Grace Reagan (Ryan) of Bartlett, TN; Shannon Elise Martin, Jacob Allen Martin, and Nathan Patrick Martin of Winston Salem, NC; Chelsie Ziglar of Connersville, NC; Chandler Pruitt of Charlotte, NC; Brock Yeates of Hendersonville, Austin Yeates (Jennifer) of Pulyup, WA; Drew Baird, Kyle Baird, and Daniel Baird of Hendersonville.
Loving all his grandchildren, he was also blessed with great grandchildren Gage and Addison Reagan from Bartlett, TN; Hayden Yeates of Pulyup, WA; Kensley and Grayson Ziglar from NC; Skye Treise from Alexandria, VA; niece Rachael Denise Staddler (Ron) of Imperial, MO, nephew Tom Smith Jr. of Cedar Hill, MO; great niece Hanna Gruver; and a great nephew Joshua Gruver.
Visitation with the family was held on Monday, November 19th at Calvary Chapel at Long Hollow, 1001 Willis Branch Road, Goodlettsville, TN, from 5:30pm until the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 6:30pm with Pastor Jerry McAnulty officiating.

Obituary for Rev. Charles “Robert” Moore
Rev. Charles Robert Moore, age 91 of Pleasant View, Tennessee died peacefully at home on November 14, 2018. He was born in Harvey, Illinois on July 28, 1927. He was married to Patricia Ann Pascall on December 23, 1950. He was the oldest son of the late Mackey Fay Moore and Carrie Lee Henley Moore.
He was preceded in death by Barbara Joan Moore, Norma Pauline Moore Johnson and Lester Johnson, Marjorie Ellen Moore Powers and Sam Powers, and James Clinton Moore. He is survived by Patricia Ann Pascall Moore, his wife of 67 years, Virginia Eileen Moore Lacy, Steven Paul Lacy, David Harold Moore, Rocky Thomas Craft, Matthew David Lacy, and Daniel Thomas Lacy. He also is survived by Wanda Lorene Moore Clendening, Clifford Edward and Micki Moore, Mackey Lee (Budd) Moore, and Doris Winings Moore.
Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving his country in Battle Creek,
Michigan. Bob attended Olivet Nazarene College and then pastored several
Church of the Nazarene congregations in Indiana, Nevada, and Florida. In
retirement, Bob and Pat moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and finally to Pleasant View,
Tennessee.
