Nurse Executive and White House Resident Advocates for Proposed TriStar White House ER: “It’s about saving lives”

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – For Lisa Hochstetler, the long drive from White House to the nearest emergency room has always been a concern.

As a longtime White House resident and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center, Hochstetler has a unique perspective on the critical need for local emergency services. Now, with plans underway to establish a freestanding emergency room in White House, she sees a solution on the horizon.

“I’ve always trusted the care provided by TriStar Hendersonville,” Hochstetler says, reflecting on her dual role as a healthcare professional and White House community member. “Knowing that this level of care may soon be closer to home gives me incredible peace of mind. Whether it’s a minor injury or a serious medical condition that requires immediate attention, the current need to drive farther for care can be overwhelming. White House is proliferating, and our community needs emergency services right here.”

Hochstetler’s daily work at TriStar Hendersonville places her at the forefront of emergency care, but it’s her life in White House that fuels her passion for the proposed freestanding ER. As the town’s population has surged, so too has the demand for accessible healthcare. The new emergency room, strategically located at the intersection of Raymond Hirsch Parkway and Highway 31W, promises to meet that demand head-on.

“Being a nurse leader and living in White House, I see firsthand how the lack of nearby emergency services impacts families,” Hochstetler explains. “In emergencies, every minute counts. Having a local ER means faster response times and better outcomes for patients. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about saving lives.”

Hostettler emphasized that last year, almost 8 in 10 emergency room visits from White House residents were to TriStar Health facilities in the region. Now, she said, TriStar Health is aiming to bring that care closer to home. “These are my neighbors,” she added. “The people of White House deserve to have access to the best care possible without the added stress of traveling far distances in an emergency. This ER will make that possible.”

The proposed facility will include 11 treatment and exam rooms, a trauma room and an imaging department, offering comprehensive emergency care to a town that has more than doubled in size since 2000. For Hochstetler, these developments are about more than just professional duty—they’re personal.

“As a healthcare provider, my priority is always the patient,” she says. “But as a resident, I want what’s best for my community. This emergency room will be a game-changer for White House, providing faster, more efficient care for everyone who lives here.”

Hochstetler is confident that the proposed freestanding ER will be a vital asset for White House, addressing the needs of a rapidly growing population and easing the burden on residents who currently have to travel nearly half an hour for emergency care.

“White House is no longer a small town—it’s a thriving community with families who deserve top-notch healthcare close to home,” she adds. “This ER is exactly what we need to keep pace with our growth and provide peace of mind for every resident.”

As TriStar Hendersonville moves forward with its application for a Certificate of Need with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission, Hochstetler encourages her fellow residents to show their support for the project.
