One Detained Following Three Vehicle Crash In Springfield Sunday Evening

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – At least six people walked away without injury following a serious three-vehicle crash involving two passenger vehicles and a tractor Trailer Sunday evening.

The crash occurred around 6:30 pm at the intersection of Memorial Blvd and Stonewall Drive in Springfield, almost directly across from Baggett Grain. (LOCATION OF CRASH)

According to a witness at the scene, the SUV and a passenger vehicle collided at the intersection. The impact pushed the SUV into the rear axle of a passing tractor-trailer causing damage to the rig’s rim and rupturing the tire. The impact appears to have totaled the SUV.

The number one lane of southbound traffic on Memorial Blvd remained closed for about an hour while the crash was investigated and the scene was cleared of debris.

As far as a cause of the accident, the Springfield Police Department is still investigating the crash.

Following a field sobriety test, the driver of the SUV was detained by the Springfield Police Department and transported from the scene. No injuries were reported.

The Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Springfield Police Department all responded to the scene.
