Online Threats Against Schools Lead to Increased Police Presence

GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE – The Greenbrier Police Department is investigating threats made against Greenbrier High School, marking the third time in the past month that schools in Greenbrier have been targeted.

According to Lieutenant Curt Allen with the Greenbrier Police Department, the latest threat was forwarded to them around 1 p.m. Friday. The threat, made through a social media app, named Greenbrier High School and warned that students were “not safe.” Part of the message read, “you may think these are rumors, but I’m not playing,” and concluded with, “you don’t have to believe me but just wait. Good luck to all of you.”

In response, several Greenbrier Police officers were dispatched to all three local schools, with extra focus on the high school. Officers remained on site until students were dismissed for the day, leaving the high school around 4 p.m. No suspicious individuals were encountered during the search, and the origin of the threat remains unknown.

This threat follows a recent pattern in the area. According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, in addition to the threats at Greenbrier schools, White House Heritage High School also received a threat, though details regarding that incident were not immediately available.

“This is the third time in the past month that threats have been made to Greenbrier schools, including Greenbrier Middle and Greenbrier Elementary,” said Lt. Allen. “The Greenbrier Police Department will take all threats seriously.”

As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
